Nina Ellaine Dizon shares inspiring lesson from her daughter on loving one’s body

Nina said, “Ang dami ng may say sa life mo, sa body mo, sa journey mo, like even how I lift a barbell or what I wear in the gym or how I take my videos… It’s overwhelming in that sense but when you tune out the noise and you just look at the positive impact of what you’re doing, parang when you minus the pros and cons, worth it pa rin siya so it’s fine.” </p><p>Acknowledging that dealing with negative feedback is part of being in the public eye, Nina said, “I guess with my years in social media, I also learned how to accept criticism.” </p><p>“Not everyone is going to love your product. And when you grow your number of followers, not everyone is going to love you. She narrated, “When she was five, she came to me, parang I was replying to a comment. Parang ‘yung comment is ‘What’s your favorite part of your body?’ and then I said my legs. In my head, I love my legs kasi it’s ‘yung pinakapayat na part ng body ko…  </p><p>“So she stopped me right there, sabi niya, “Mommy could you love your legs because you can run and you can walk?’ and na-stun ako kasi she doesn’t look at it from a place of prejudice and ‘yung bias na binigay ng society natin na ‘I love my legs kasi it’s slim.” She thought I love my legs kasi it works. She’s teaching me a lot also and that’s something na I anchor my thoughts to. Na parang, ‘Ang laki ng braso ko but I like it kasi it’s so strong.’ ‘Yung tiyan ko ang laki niya, I have a lot of saggy skin but it bore two wonderful kids,” she concluded.                      </p>
