Veteran actress Eva Darren will be joining the list of other veteran actors to be honored at the 7th EDDYS Awards this coming July 7 at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.

Organized by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEED), the EDDYS will be giving the veteran actors recognition for their valuable contributions in the local film industry.

Eva’s recognition comes after the Filipino Academy for Movie, Arts, and Sciences (FAMAS) awards fiasco which happened last month. The award-giving body previously invited the veteran actress to be a presenter alongside Tirso Cruz III but she was never called on stage.

The FAMAS Board has since then sent their apologies to Eva which have been accepted by her family members through a Facebook post. Several actors expressed their disappointment with how the veteran actress was treated during the event.

Meanwhile, Eva will join fellow veteran stars such as Nova Villa, Gina Alajar, Lito Lapid, and Leo Martinez in the upcoming awarding.

Eva, who is best known for her roles in the films Ang Langit Sa Lupa and Ang Pulubi, has been nominated and awarded with several Best Supporting Actress awards by FAMAS and the Manila Film Festival.

She has also made several notable appearances in hit television series Pangako Sa ‘Yo and Sineserye Presents: Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara, among others, where she has portrayed the important roles of being a mother.

Apart from Eva, Nova, Gina, Lito, and Leo, the 7th EDDYS Awards will also be honoring the late Carlo J. Caparas–– who passed away last month–– for his valuable contribution to Philippine cinema. The late artist-director has produced and written several notable films which include Hiwaga ng Panday, The Vizconde Massacre: God, Help Us, and his latest work, Kamandag ng Droga, among others.

The EDDYS Awards is an annual film event in the Philippines that honors craftsmen, actors, writers, directors, workers, and producers in the Philippine film industry.
