Veteran host Boy Abunda shared a brief response from champion surfer and Andi Eigenmann’s partner, Philmar Alipayo, regarding the edited video of himself interacting with another girl, which went viral on social media in the past week.

In an episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda that aired on May 31, Boy said that the couple initially shrugged off the rumors. However, they started to become concerned about it as it seemed to have been created to stir up chaos for them.

“Nakausap ko rin po ang partner ni Andi na si Philmar Alipayo. For the first time, Philmar addressed itong umiikot, itong current issue ngayon, itong kumakalat na video that’s causing a stir on social media,” Boy said.

The couple told Boy about what actually happened during the time that the video was shot.

“What happened was uminom si Philmar, had a friendly conversation with this girl on the video and that’s it, sabi ni Philmar and sabi ni Andi,” he continued.

Boy went on: “Kaya noong una nilang nakita yung video, nagtawanan lang sila ni Andi. But what bothers them is that it was edited and uploaded to create an issue.”

As per the host, the full interview with the couple is set to be aired on Sunday, June 9.

On May 28, Andi broke her silence as she took to her Instagram Stories an indirect statement to address the issue circulating on social media.

The former Kapamilya actress shared that she doesn’t find anything wrong with letting her partner have some fun and going out with his friends.

“He can go out with his friends, go drinking every once in a while, and chat with whoever he wants. No harm in that,” she shared.

She then maintained that people who “purposely” edit a video to cause a stir should be ashamed of themselves.

“What's shameful is purposely posting and editing a video to cause a stir, disturbing the peace of people and dragging them into their negativity; just for some social media attention," she added.

The viral video was uploaded by user Criss Habibi on her TikTok account, which gave a glimpse of Philmar conversing with her. In the video, Philmar was allegedly intoxicated.

The TikTok user explained her side and added that her looks shouldn't be compared to Andi’s and clarified that she wasn’t flirting with Philmar.

“Hindi totoo ang inyong iniisip at hindi totoo ang mga naglalabasang issue sa social media. Alam ko na mali ko, ako rin ang naglaglag sa aking sarili,” the user said in Bisaya as reported by PhilStar Life.

“Walang flirting na nangyari dahil nasa public place kami. At hindi ko rin ma-please si Philmar the way siya tumingin at mag-act sa akin. Ang mali ko lang talaga, hindi ako dumistansya,” she explained.

Andi and Philmar have been engaged since 2020. However, the couple decided  to postpone their wedding following the passing of Andi’s mother, Jaclyn Jose, last March.

Before announcing the postponement, the couple were also embroiled in a separation rumor which Andi addressed and put a stop to all the negative comments about her relationship with her partner on her personal social media account.

“I literally [just] went on a vacation with my brother and our kids, and come home to find out, through the internet, that I’ve just been separated,” she wrote.

“The internet didn’t seem to like that I was grieving the loss of my nanay. Apparently, according to them, I had been faking my sadness about it all along. (Not enough social media posts perhaps?) Due to this, the internet has decided that the reason for my sadness is not that I have recently been an orphan but in fact, a divorcee (even if I had never been married). Helpppp,” she continued.
