Popular content creator Jeraldine Blackman of the Blackman Family recently shared her insights about their journey into content creation during an exclusive interview with PUSH.

Speaking candidly, Jeraldine described her recent visit to the Philippines as “amazing,” highlighting the difference in recognition compared to their visit last year. “It’s very hot, pero it’s amazing, kasi now na andito kami, a few people know us kaya ibang feeling yung uwi namin dito,” she remarked.

Jeraldine recounted the early days of their content creation journey, which began two years ago. When they started their YouTube channel, they were inspired by popular channels like Ryan’s Toy Review. “Joshua, my husband, he was the one who forced me to do this...we kinda got started on that one but it didn’t take off,” she said.

However, their initial foray did not gain significant traction, leading them to explore other platforms. They eventually found success on TikTok with skits, particularly with their series “The Filipina Wife,” which garnered millions of views.

Despite the demanding nature of content creation, Jeraldine remains hands-on with editing and conceptualization. She revealed that she manages most of the work during her free time, often editing when her kids are asleep. “I try to balance it all...sometimes I do the editing when I’m not doing anything, pag nagddrive kami,” she explained.

Jeraldine also discussed handling negative feedback and criticism. Protecting her children from online negativity is a priority. “The kids don’t know the negative comments, and we will never tell them until they can understand what’s going on,” she stated.

Jeraldine shared that she used to be affected by negative comments but has since learned to ignore them. Occasionally, she replies humorously to critics, which often trends online. “I would never reply in a negative way because it will reflect on the channel,” she added.

On parenting, Jeraldine emphasized the importance of being fun yet balanced. She and Joshua strive to maintain open communication with their children. “I think we try to be as fun na parents...I know na kaya I try to talk to them, and try to let them open up,” she said, underscoring her desire for her kids to remain open and communicative as they grow.
