Like nae-enjoy ko siya. But we’re dealing with real events kasi, so ang grey area doon is like I’m happy naman na natutuwa sila sa character ko but ang gusto kong i-sympathize nila talaga ay ang victim which is the character of EJ Jallorina,” she explained.</p><div style="margin:0cm;line-height:16.866667px;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"> </div><p style="margin:0cm;line-height:16.866667px;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">Maris highlighted the importance of separating her judgment from her character to portray Beanie authentically. “Tinreat ko yung script as fiction so that I don’t judge the character so that tatanggapin ko yung character na buo para maging tao siya at mapasok ko siya sa sistema ko.”</p><div style="margin:0cm;line-height:16.866667px;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"> </div><p style="margin:0cm;line-height:16.866667px;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">The significance of <em>Marupok AF</em> extends beyond personal growth for Maris, as it addresses critical issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly transphobia. </p><div style="margin:0cm;line-height:16.866667px;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"> </div><p style="margin:0cm;line-height:16.866667px;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">“This movie is very important kasi it tackles real issues... But totoo yung nararamdaman nila and with this movie, sana maenlighten ng maraming tao na to be kinder to other people, especially to our LGBTQIA+ community and the trans people,” Maris emphasized.</p><div style="margin:0cm;line-height:16.866667px;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"> </div><p style="margin:0cm;line-height:16.866667px;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">Reflecting on her journey from her <em>Pinoy Big Brother</em> days to her iconic roles today, Maris expressed gratitude for her growth and achievements. “Nakaka-warm ng heart kasi naalala ko yung 16-year old, 17-year old Maris na nagwowonder what’s coming for her, what’s her future? And now, the older Maris is seeing it parang wow girl ang dami mong ginawa.
