"Sobrang nakaka-happy tapos it's fulfilling."

These were the words of Cherry Pie Picache as she was asked for her reaction to the massive reception that her character in the primetime series FPJ's Batang Quiapo has received from the viewers.

"The whole team works very hard di ba to give and to entertain, and to let the viewers enjoy Batang Quiapo so ang affirmation namin dun is to know na ang dami-daming nanood," the actress remarked. "It's so fulfilling and I'm sure di ba, lahat nung pagod, 'yung pagsisikap namin, parang it's all worth it kasi nai-enjoy ng viewers."

In Batang Quiapo, Cherry Pie plays the role of Marites, the wife of Rigor (John Estrada). Tension ensues after Marites finds out that Rigor has a mistress named Lena (Mercedes Cabral).

The Kapamilya star relayed that when it comes to filming scenes, the actors on the set really collaborate with each other. "Each and every one of us nagco-collaborate kami to make our characters alive. Nagtutulong-tulong kami, directors, kami-kami, like kami ni [Mercedes] nag-uusap kami... Nagtutulungan kaming lahat. It's nice to know that's effective tapos nakaka-relate 'yung audience," she stated.

The actress also pointed out that the stories of their character are based on reality, hence a lot of viewers can relate.

"Ang maganda rin kasi sa characters namin true to life eh. You know it's full of reality. 'Yung real talk kumbaga. Ito, you come face to face with what's really happening and ang effect nakaka-relate 'yung mga tao," she stated.

When asked why she thinks her character in the series seems to be a martyr, she explained: "Siguro may mga pinaghahandaan pa pero di ba si Marites kasi, yung character niya, bilang tao lahat gagawin niya."

She went on: "Mahal na mahal niya pamilya niya. Lahat gagawin niya, lahat titiisin niya kahit siya na ang magmukhang tanga, magmukhang kawawa. [Para sa kanya], 'Sabihin na nila ang lahat ng gusto niyong sabihin pero gagawin ko ang lahat para mapanatiling buo 'yung pamilya ko.' Pwedeng hindi kayo agree sa pamamaraan ni Marites pero nakikita niyo na binabalanse niya lahat," she stated.

Cherry Pie highlighted that playing the role of Marites is something that she already mastered.

"Kapang-kapa ko na si Marites, parang second skin na. The way she will react, the way she feels, the way she talks. Tapos kung kailan siya uurong, kailan siya lalaban, parang kapang-kapa ko na," she remarked.

When asked what fans can expect from her character, she said, "'Yan ang abangan niyo. Siyempre di ba we know that si direk CM, si Coco (Martin), hinahanda niya 'yan pero nababago rin along the way depende kung ano ang gusto ang audience."

The actress added: "Tapos kapag may naiisip siya, ito mas maganda 'to, napaka-passionate na storyteller niya eh so it changes along the way although merong arc, so lahat tayo masu-surprise kung ano ang aabangan."

FPJ's Batang Quiapo first aired on February 13, 2023. The series is based on the 1986 movie of the same title starring Fernando Poe Jr. and Maricel Soriano.

Last March, the series bagged the Popular TV Program-Primetime Drama title at the Box Office Entertainment Awards presented by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF), Inc.

"Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam kasi pinaghihirapan namin buoin lahat ang BQ. Salamat sa buong team, creatives, directors, staff and crew, and lahat ng tumatangkilik at sumusubaybay gabi-gabi," Coco said in his acceptance speech.

He continued: "Napaka-important nito. Ito ang paraan magtulong-tulong ang industriya para masabi natin buhay ang pelikula at telebisyon sa Pilipinas."
