Actor and singer Ronnie Liang took on his army reservist duties and joined rescue operations for the victims of Super Typhoon Carina on Wednesday, July 24.

On his official Facebook page, Ronnie shared some snaps of his and team in some areas of Quezon City.

“Answering the call of duty as a reservist of the Philippine Army, together with 1302 Ready Reserve Battalion Reserve Command, Philippine Army. Rescuing the typhoon #CarinaPH victims here at Barangay Roxas, Quezon City. #parasabayan (Philippine flag emoji) 🫶🏼,” he penned.

Included in the post were Ronnie’s photos riding a rescue boat with other troops in a flooded barangay.

Their rescue operations lasted until the night on Wednesday. They helped residents who needed help and brought them to evacuation centers.

“Joining the rescue operations for the victims of the flood caused by Typhoon Carina at Barangay Roxas, Quezon City. Reporting for duty as a reservist of the Philippine Army together with the other troops of the 1302 Ready Reserve Battalion, Reserve Command, Philippine Army. (three Philippine flag emojis),” he wrote.

He also posted a clip where some residents were rescued from the rooftops of their houses.

“Ganito pala ang pagrescue… Lagpas tao na ang baha dito. Kasama natin ang Bureau of Fire,” Ronnie said in the video.

Fans and followers were quick to react to the rescue team's dedication to helping the typhoon victims.

“Thank you for such a heroic job as a helping hand for our people in Need. The Lord Will Bless you mOre Abundantly! Take Care our dear Soldiers! Keep it up! Appreciate you! 🙂,“ a netizen commented.

Ronnie volunteered as an army reservist in 2018 and completed his army training in 2019.

This is not the first time that the “Ngiti” singer took part in doing volunteer work during calamities.

In November 2022 when Typhoon Paeng hit the country, Ronnie did his duty as an army reservist by repacking relief goods for the victims of the typhoon.

“Today, I am not an artist, actor, or celebrity. I am just simply me, an Army Reservist. Volunteering in case of calamities, like repacking relief goods for typhoon-stricken victims, is what a Reservist signed up for and what I love doing because it is fulfilling, nothing can match that feeling,” he wrote.

Their mission was to repack 25,000 family food packs for the victims of the typhoon.

Meanwhile, Kapamilya actor and Philippine Army reservist Gerald Anderson also aided a family who was trapped in a flooded home in Quezon City.
