Simone Biles has set a record as the American gymnast with the most Olympic medals in history after the USA team clinched the gold medal in the women's gymnastics team final at the Olympics in Paris on Tuesday, July 30 (Europe time).

Simone now has eight Olympic medals, which includes five golds, one silver, and two bronze.

"It feels amazing. We love it, we’re excited. We got the job done," Simone said in an interview with Olympics.com following team USA's win on Tuesday.

Prior to the Paris Olympics, Simone dubbed her team's return to the Olympics as their "redemption tour"

"I feel like we all have more to give," she said as reported by Elle.

It can be recalled that Simone stepped back from five event finals at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 to protect her mental and physical health after experiencing "the twisties," which is "a mental block that creates a dangerous disconnect between mind and body while gymnasts are airborne" as per the Cleveland Clinic.

In preparation for Paris 2024, Simone shared that therapy has been part of her training regimen.

"I am doing therapy weekly to keep everything in tune so that I feel comfortable and confident enough to be competing. It’s been a crucial part of my training regimen," she stated.

Meanwhile, a day prior to the team final of the women's gymnastics, Simone relayed that the members of the US team including Jordan Chiles and Suni Lee had a team meeting.

"I think we were all full of nerves and we weren't communicating with each other," Simone recalled on what prompted the conversation as per Olympics.com.

She went on: "[We just let] each other know that we can lean on each other because we've been there. It's really hard to be doing what we were doing, and it's easier if we can lean on each other. It was really needed honestly."

Simone is set to compete for more Olympic medals at Paris 2024 as she qualified for four individual event finals including floor exercise, vault, balance beam, and all-around.
