All-Filipino global pop group HORI7ON released a special comeback single which is a reimagined version of the hit OPM classic “Sumayaw Sumunod” by The Boyfriends.

At the media launch for their second comeback single on August 13 at the SM Sky Dome, the seven-member boy group expressed their excitement about performing an OPM song and reintroducing it to the international scene.

“It’s a remake, and we really tried to encapsulate that type of music from back then into our own flavor, to HORI7ON concept,” Vinci said.

“In this remake, 'Sumayaw Sumunod,' I think it has that energy na lahat talaga mapapasayaw and they can really understand how the Filipinos are very warm, very jolly, very happy,” he added.

Marcus also shared, “We are super duper excited for this comeback specifically because we are really straight up representing Filipino songs.

“And since we are trying to set history as much as possible, we of course, we'll have Tagalog lyrics for the song and we’ll be performing it in Korean music shows and to everyone else with the Tagalog lyrics just so we can represent the Philippines more,” he continued.

“Para siyang isang, a puzzle piece for us to complete kasi we never had an upbeat OPM vibe song. We had ‘Salamat’ and ‘Mama’ which are ballads. We want to show yung Filipino joy and that warm energy that Filipinos naturally had,” Vinci stated.

The group also revealed that they actually took part in adding the song's rap lines and reinventing some of its lyrics.

“And I'm very thankful to be able to be given the freedom of writing lyrics for the song. It's my first time actually writing lyrics personally for HORI7ON and being able to release it. So it's really, I'm very grateful,” Marcus told PUSH.

They also said that after having their promotions scheduled in the Philippines, the group will then perform the song at several Korean shows to share the beauty of OPM in three languages—Filipino, English, and Korean.

“The chorus, it's going to be all Tagalog. So that we can really show to the world that it is, in fact, an OPM song,” Marcus added.

Marcus was one of the members who helped with rewriting the song lyrics in Filipino and English, while Reyster took part in writing the rap verse.

“The fact that we're going to perform it in you know music shows and as many stages as possible, it is very... it's an honor for all of us to really show it to the world and represent the Philippines once more,” Marcus shared with PUSH.

Reyster added, “Kaming dalawa ni Marcus yung nagsulat nung rap parts na lyrics. And pinag-usapan namin ng mabuti yun nang nag-e-enjoy lang kami… Super saya talaga namin nung ginagawa namin ‘yun.”

The group also shared how they wanted to make everyone who listens to their new single dance and feel the energy that the classic-turned-new song gives.

“We want it, so that any listener, whether you’re a toddler or elderly people, we want everyone to follow along with us and dance along with us carelessly,” Marcus remarked.

As per All Charts PH, the group’s two versions of their songs, "Sumayaw Sumunod" and "Sumayaw Sumunod (Tagalog version)" “currently holds the top 2 spots on iTunes PH Music Video chart.”

Composed of Vinci, Kim, Kyler, Reyster, Winston, Jeromy, and Marcus, the septet was formed through the Philippine-South Korean boy group survival reality show Dream Maker, in collaboration with MLD Entertainment, ABS-CBN and KAMP Global.

The group made their debut in July 2023 upon the release of their album Friend-Ship in South Korea.
