Pokwang opened up about her love life and the lessons learned from past relationships during her appearance on the It’s Showtime segment EXpecially for You with her daughter, Mae Subong.

Pokwang revealed that she has been single for three years now and shared that her last genuine kilig was in 2014. Despite the challenges she faced in love, Pokwang said she remains optimistic about finding a new partner.

Mae, who joined her mother on the show, shared her thoughts on Pokwang's potential future relationships. “Mas gusto ko na tumanda siyang may makakasama,” Mae expressed, emphasizing that she wants her mother to have a companion as she grows older. Mae's acceptance and encouragement were evident throughout the interview, highlighting her desire for her mother to find happiness again.

Reflecting on her previous relationship, Pokwang disclosed the difficulties she faced, particularly its impact on Mae. She admitted feeling guilty about how quickly the relationship progressed and how it affected her daughter.

“Okay lang kung ako yung binastos mo, kung ako lang yung hindi mo nirespeto, okay lang yun. Pero yung sa anak ko, yung sakripisyo ng anak ko na nabaliwala, it was for my happiness,” Pokwang emotionally shared.

However, Pokwang found solace in the fact that her daughter Malia was the one good thing that came from her past relationship. “Magandang part lang yung nabigay sakin si Malia,” she said, reflecting on the joy her youngest daughter has brought into her life.

Despite the pain she endured, Pokwang emphasized that she harbors no resentment towards her ex. “Hindi na ako galit,” she said, noting that her feelings are now more focused on disappointment in herself for ignoring the red flags she had noticed early on.

Mae also revealed her own regrets, admitting that she should have been more involved and supportive during her mother's tumultuous relationship. “Siguro yun lang din yung regret ko, kasi, yun nga hindi ako masyadong nakikialam sa kanila. So parang dapat pala, kinausap ko yung mama ko kung anong nararamdaman niya,” Mae reflected.

During the segment, Pokwang gave two green flags to Richard, Searchee Number 1, a chef from Ilocos Sur, who caught her attention. Mae agreed with her mother's choice, adding a hopeful note to the segment.

Mae's message to her mother was both touching and supportive. "Gusto ko lang sabihin na, siyempre, alagaan mo yung sarili mo... kaming pamilya mo, full support kami sa'yo, alam mo yan, and gusto lang namin na maging masaya ka."

Pokwang previously shared the alleged abuse she went through at the hands of her ex, Lee O’Brian. In a vlog with Ogie Diaz. Pokwang shared, “Natutulog ako ng hapon, nap time, bigla siyang pumasok sa kwarto, binuhusan niya ako ng tubig–– as in binuhusan niya ako ng tubig. Basang-basa ang kama. Pinagmumura niya ako.” This incident came about after Pokwang called out Lee for liking several Instagram posts of an unnamed woman.

In December 2023, Pokwang won her case against her ex-partner, Lee O’Brian, who has been deported and blacklisted from the country.

Pokwang and Lee O’Brian first dated in 2015, and broke up in 2016.
