OPM singer Kyla shared her desire to return to her core as an R&B artist.

During the advanced listening party for her new song with hip-hop artist MC Einstein, Kyla shared that she would be working on more R&B songs now that she observed how the genre is slowly returning to the music scene.

“Definitely I’ll be doing more songs and recording more songs. It’s in the plan. Mayroon ding ibang sinulat with some producers and abangan na lang nila iyon,” she told PUSH. “Yung mga ganitong vibe, it will be more R&B this time.”

Dubbed as the Queen of Philippine R&B, Kyla also shared that her new single with MC, titled “Lambalak,” is something that gave her the chance to go back to her music core.

You heard some of the songs on my previous albums, I have a few or some collaborations with R&B artists and hip-hop artists, but they were never released as a single,” she said.

Kyla went on: “This one kasi ang intention to be is to be released as a single, so I said (to MC) ‘Gawa ka ng kanta kasi I want to go back to my core.

Kyla then expressed how she loves doing her previous songs, but she sometimes misses doing the music she greatly loves.

“I love singing all the theme songs, love songs, I love those songs pero namiss ko lang yung ganitong vibe. I mean doing something again after such a long time, always feels new to me again. Naexcite lang din ako,” she said.

Her desire to do old R&B again is something she trusted MC to help her on, that's why she immediately invited the singer-songwriter to work on their song.

I just like the way he writes the songs.”

Kyla also reacted to how her fellow singer Jay R and Dionela’s song, “Sining” also gave a way for the old R&B music to return and be enjoyed by the younger generation.

“Bumalik siya and sobrang natuwa ako,” she exclaimed. “Para akong nabuhay ulit.”
