Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson received recognition from the City Government of General Santos for his brave efforts during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina in July.

Talent agency Star Magic shared the photos from Gerald's awarding ceremony in General Santos on social media.

"Another round of salutes and applause to #GeraldAnderson, whose unwavering commitment and admirable heroism as Auxiliary Commander was recognized by the City Government of General Santos for his brave acts of heroism amid Super Typhoon Carina last July 2024," Star Magic posted.

"Gerald was presented the award yesterday in a ceremony at General Santos City by City Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao herself," the talent agency added.

The General Santos Office of the Panlungsod also filed a resolution "commending Gerald for his invaluable and selfless service to the country last August 2024."

"Mabuhay ka, Gerald, at and iba pang mga bayani na handang sumerbisyo at sumaklolo sa mga oras ng pangangailangan! 🙌🏻" Star Magic wrote.

Gerald previously resided with his family in General Santos City.

In August, Gerald was also honored and received a medal from the Philippine Coast Guard for his heroic acts during the onslaught of super typhoon Carina. The awarding ceremony happened at the National Headquarters at the Port Area in Manila on August 8.

PCG Spokesperson, CG Rear Admiral Armando Balilo, remarked that Gerald has been a dedicated partner of the Command, particularly in humanitarian efforts and disaster response operations.

"He is always present during the Coast Guard’s relief operations and disaster rehabilitation. He continues to help Aetas in Zambales, recovering families in Marawi, and even donated medical supplies and tents during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Together with Auxiliary Ensign Julia Barretto and other PCGA members, Auxiliary CDR Anderson also donated bags filled with school supplies for the children of Pag-Asa Island," CG Rear Admiral Balilo stated.

In July, Gerald joined the rescue efforts in Sto. Domingo, Quezon City when Super Typhoon Carina hit the Philippines.

In a video posted by X user @TmaeOsanomae last July, it could be seen that Gerald helped carry a child in the middle of a waist-deep flood inside a family's home in Quezon City.

The uploader, Rachelle Joy Kabayao, said the clip was sent to her by her sister.

"Mga 11:00 a.m., nag-ask na sila sa barangay. Kaso, hindi nila ma-contact, then tumawag ulit sila. Wala pa daw available na boat. Mga 1:30 p.m., si Gerald nag-rescue sa kanila," Rachelle said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
