"Not [retiring] anytime soon hopefully. I hope I get to be part of the revolution of Philippine cinema. We're part again of the MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival), MIFF (Manila International Film Festival). And MMFF is celebrating again its 50th year so to be part of that, you're a clear representation of the industry, so I want to be part of that," he said.

Piolo will be part of this year's MMFF entry The Kingdom alongside Vic Sotto.

"I grew up kasi watching him and for me to be acting alongside with a cinematic icon, kailangan kong tanggalin ang pagka-fan ko so I have to deal with it and cross the bridge when I'm already there because we have a lot of scenes together," he said.

"When [Michael] pitched this concept to Bossing (Vic) he said yes right away. When he pitched it to me a couple of days later, I said yes. Within weeks we were doing pre-production, so it just fell into place. I mean, we're both busy but if there is a project that you can work on and make things happen to make it happen, it will happen."
