<p>The documentary <em>And So It Begins</em> has been selected as the Philippines&#x27; entry to the 97th Academy Awards for the Best International Foreign Film category.</p><p>The Film Academy of the Philippines announced the news on Wednesday, September 25 with director Ramona S. Diaz receiving the plaque from the organization.  </p><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FFapAdmin2023%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0xmueQZv3n4CxbhKGrdRcFDJUbaMPc14NhDGAehnAsRfNi5STqHbsdiFjYmW5eiGGl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="645" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>Golden Globes voter Nicole Andrew Latayan highlighted that <em>And So It Begins</em> is the first documentary submission from the Philippines for the Oscars&#x27; International Film category, following the country&#x27;s first animated submission last year with Carl Papa&#x27;s<em> Iti Mapukpukaw.</em></p><p><em>And So It Begins</em> chronicles the People&#x27;s Campaign for the presidency of former Vice President Leni Robredo.</p><p>It premiered at the Premieres program of the Sundance Film Festival 2024.</p><p>&quot;Amidst the traditional pomp and circumstance of Filipino elections, a quirky people’s movement rises to defend the nation against deepening threats to truth and democracy.
