American band The Maine brought their The Sweet Sixteen Tour to their Filipino fans.

On Friday, September 27, the band kicked off their 2-day concert with a memorable setlist of their songs from over almost two decades in the industry.

“(We came here first) in 2012. It’s been a decade with you,” lead vocalist John O'Callaghan said in between the first set.

For their opening performance, the band played their songs “Dose No. 2,” “I Must Be Dreaming,” “Diet Soda Society,” and “Right Girl”.

“Hey! It’s good to see yah! What’s new? Tell me new things about your life,” John asked their fans who were in high spirits about their much-awaited comeback show.

John also had a fun time meeting Filipino fans and listeners who have been with the band since their first show in the Philippines.

“How many folks are seeing this for the very first time tonight? What’s up? How are yah? So, everybody else has seen us before. Who saw us all the way back in 2012?” he said as a loud cheer came from the crowd.

“We’ll going to be here for 15 hours,” he quipped after hearing such excitement from the audience.

The band also has also been recording the volume of the cheers from their fans in every city on the tour.

“We got in Singapore and I think the highest they got is 117. Hey, we can do better than Singapore!” John teased the fans, which prompted them to scream their hearts out and reach the highest decibel count of cheer so far.

“Wow. 122. All set done. That’s it. That’s f****** awesome,” he complimented the Filipino crowd.

The band also accepted a requested song from the fans, “Slip The Noose” as a small token of their appreciation.

The band gave major throwback feels with their songs “Loved You A Little,” “(UN) Lost,” “Saving Grace,” “Like We Did,” among others.

The band also flashed onscreen some touching notes with some of their songs including “8123 Means Everything To Me”.

A special moment was also one of the highlights of the night as fans turned on their phone lights while the band performed “Whoever She Is”. John even made sure to capture the moment with his personal phone.

The American vocalist also made sure that all the corners and sides of the dome were having the best night as he joined in the middle of the crowd, maintaining the high energy that the fans were filling in the place.

“Let’s turn this place into a weird nightclub,” he said as he performed “Sticky” in the middle of the crowd.

A lucky Filipino fan also had the chance to join the band onstage as they performed “Girls Do What They Want”.

As the show neared its end, the band then performed “Black Butterflies,” “Deja Vu,” and their latest single “Touch.”

They also granted the fans' request, “Taxi”.

“It’s such a privilege to come over here because he (Vernon Go of PULP) gave us a shot and you guys have been showing up for the last decade. Thank you so much everybody,” John said.

They then closed their end message as they look forward to seeing their beloved Filipino fans in the future.

“Our band is called The Maine. We are from Phoenix, Arizona. It’s a long long way but it is such an absolute privilege to always come here and see familiar faces. Thank you very much everybody for giving us the opportunity to play music. Thank you very much for having us. Take care of each other. Take care of yourselves,” John remarked.

“Everybody that is going tomorrow, we’ll see you tomorrow. Everybody else, we’ll see you all (soon),” he continued.

The band then played their last two songs, “Dirty, Pretty, Beautiful” and “Another Night on Mars”, as they successfully closed the first day of their Manila stop.
