John Legend shares how his family is navigating his son’s type 1 diabetes

<p>John Legend opened up about his family&#x27;s journey following the diabetes diagnosis of his son Miles.</p><p>In an interview with PEOPLE, the singer relayed that they found out about the diagnosis when Miles was rushed to a hospital when he had a stomach bug after attending a summer camp.</p><p>&quot;I remember he was at the emergency room because of it and they checked his blood sugar,&quot; he recalled. &quot;The thinking was, this may be a reaction to the infection or he may be diabetic. We just have to be more aware,&quot; he explained.</p><p>John was all praised for his wife Chrissy Teigen for being proactive on &quot;learning what she needs to do&quot; following the diabetes diagnosis of their son.</p><p>John chooses to remain optimistic throughout the ordeal saying: &quot;My personality is one where I&#x27;m very optimistic and I&#x27;m very practical.
