<p>The past few years have seen much progress in environmental efforts across the globe. </p><p>While many have turned to carrying around bamboo and metal straws as well as drinking from their tumblers when eating out, there is still much to be done when it comes to limiting the use of plastic and preserving one’s natural surroundings. </p><p>Unilever has stepped up its game in haircare shopping with a practical way to take care not only of one’s hair, but also the planet.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/advertorial/04/16/20190416_ath_03.jpg"/></figure></div><p>With a strong commitment to the environment as part of its Sustainable Living Plan, Unilever Philippines put forward a new means of buying hair care products without added packaging waste. Its pilot program “All Things Hair Refillery”, in partnership with the Ayala Malls, allowed clients to refill their own bottles with their favorite hair items, grab discounts, and pay for them according to their final weight. Consumers were also able to turn over their old plastic bottles and sachets at the refilling stations to have them upcycled.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/advertorial/04/16/20190416_ath_004.jpg"/></figure></div><p>While the pilot run has ended, learnings from the program will be used to improve sustainability programs. If viable, this will be considered as one of the alternative delivery systems for Unilever’s products.</p><p>The company is continuously exploring sustainable solutions to the problem of plastic waste and has targeted to shift to 100% recyclable, compostable, and reusable packaging by the year 2025. </p><p>The ATH Refillery is just one of the many programs under its operations that are geared towards helping preserve the environment and making it sustainable for all.</p>
