Sam, Jameson, Jake will make you laugh big time as they take on the English Translation Challenge

The Estrella brothers are intense in whatever they do (especially in loving a woman). But this English Translation Challenge, where they have to translate Filipino idiomatic expressions to English, proves that they can also be pretty much hilarious.Sam Milby and Jameson Blake, as we all know, are more fluent in English since they grew up in foreign countries, although they have improved a lot in Filipino since venturing into acting. They now deliver lengthy Filipino dialogues with less twang such as for their roles in the sexy-drama series <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/afamilyaffair">A Family Affair</a>. Well, maybe they can ask Jake Ejercito&#x27;s help in this game, that is, if the latter isn’t in the mood to be competitive. Let’s see how they fare in the challenge! A little warning, though: Sam will make your stomach hurt from too much laughter.Jameson got the ball rolling with “Ang lalagyang walang laman ay maingay,” which he translates to, “A container that doesn’t have anything is noisy.”It’s Sam’s turn! He struggles just by reading the Filipino adage “Habang maikli ang kumot, matutong mamaluktot,” let alone analyzing its meaning to be able to translate it into English. He took out his phone and pretends someone just messaged him when we know he was going to seek help from the internet. But that didn’t work. So, he splits the phrase per word, and if “baluktot” means “not straight,” then his answer would have to be, “You’re going to learn to not be straight.” Lol.Sam showed more of his ‘kulit’ side trying to steal Jake’s question, which is, “Papunta ka pa lang, pabalik na ako.” He declared, “This is mine!” But, Jake didn’t want to pass the phrase.In the second round, Jameson breezed through translating “lahat ng gubat ay may ahas” into “all the forest have snakes.” Sam thought it’s not going to be a lucky day for him. Coincidentally, he picked another hard question, “Ang taong gipit, sa patalim kumakapit.” He says, “The person that’s put in a hard place…” He took a pause and asks if he can call a friend. That friend is Jake, who finishes the phrase with, “will grab a knife.” Jake then picked the proverb “Nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa tao ang gawa,” which he poetically translates into, “Mercy is for the Lord but we have to do our way.”Third round! Sam wanted to switch places with either Jake or Jameson, thinking there must be good luck on their seats since they keep on getting the easier questions. Well, that isn’t true because Jameson failed to interpret “Ang taong walang kibo, nasa loob ang kulo.” Jake got us ROFL-ing when he says, “The person that doesn’t shiver, the heat is inside.” He picked the next phrase, “Aanhin pa ang damo kung patay na ang kabayo,” which he rephrases into, “What will you do with the grass if the horse is already dead.”Are you excited for Sam to earn his first point? Here it goes. He got the oft-quoted adage, “Kung ano ang itinanim, siya rin ang aanihin,” which he converts into, “Whatever you plant, you harvest.”Jameson seemingly snatched the bad luck from Sam as he picks the phrase, “Kung hindi ukol, hindi bubukol.” How do you translate that into English, Kapamilya? Jameson needs help!Meanwhile, Sam struggled to understand “kalingkingan” from the old aphorism “Ang sakit ng kalingkingan, ramdam ng buong katawan.” He realized it meant “pinkie” and got it from there, “The pain in your pinkie, you feel over your whole body.” Hyped up, he took over Jake’s spot and translates “kung ano ang puno, siyang bunga” into “whatever is the tree, that’s the fruit will be.”At that point of the game, Jake has collected 4 points while Sam and Jameson have 2 points. Time for a tie-breaker! Sam used his ‘kuya’ privilege to steal the phrase “Ang taong hindi lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan.” He says, “People that don’t look in their past can’t go where they want to go.”The struggle of being the younger sibling, Jameson, is you always have to follow what ‘kuya’ says. As a consequence of losing the challenge, Jameson will take one of the mystery drinks, and he got soy sauce.
