With the enhanced community quarantine extending until the middle of May, much of Filipinos’ activity has moved online, from food delivery to e-commerce to simply playing games. That’s eminently apparent with the just-launched partnership of two powerhouse apps: food delivery mainstay Foodpanda and KUMU, one of the country’s fastest growing social media apps.

KUMU brings together Filipinos around the world (its “Kumunizens”) through livestreams, games, and virtual hangouts, while at the same time allowing opportunities for users to earn cash.

Through these activities, Kumunizens can now get the chance to win PHP 100,000 worth of voucher codes to use for food orders on the Foodpanda app in Metro Manila, North and South Luzon, Cebu, and Davao.

“We know that people are trapped in their homes during this whole COVID-19 situation so our partnership with Foodpanda helps bring foodies’ favorites to their homes safely and more conveniently,” says Gian Gloria, KUMU sales account manager.

To win these vouchers, KUMU users have to send as many virtual gifts as they can to Foodpanda brand ambassadors who will be live streaming on KUMU from 8 pm to 11:30 pm until April 30. These users then receive a thank-you email and unique voucher code that gives them the chance to win PHP 100 discounts and free deliveries on Foodpanda orders from participating restaurants. Users can also win voucher codes through the KUMU live game shows Beki Quiz and Quiz Mo Ko! to be posted after every episode date for the duration of the promo period. Note that these one-time-only codes are valid for new Foodpanda users until May 15 only.

The KUMU and Foodpanda partnership doesn’t end there, as the apps are also doing their part to support the country’s medical frontliners by linking up with PAGASA. This civil society organization primarily works with smaller hospitals that are only minimally supported with government provisions. KUMU and Foodpanda are fundraising for this initiative via gift card donations called Enhanced Charity Quest (ECQ) which users can purchase for PHP 50 through KUMU’s e-commerce in-app feature. These donations will help provide hot meals to medical frontliners through PAGASA.

“In this overwhelming war with our invisible enemy, our health workers are our modern-day superheroes as they put their lives at risk every single day just to save thousands of lives,” says Melissa Tuason, head of business development-sales. “We believe that this partnership with PAGASA will be our own little way of helping our hospital workers, especially the ones from the smaller and underserved hospitals, to prevent them from being overworked and hungry.”
