<p>Sacrifices hold such a strong meaning during Holy Week. Several Filipinos take a break from their busy lives to reflect on the sacrifices that allow them to enjoy the life they have today. </p><p>The sacrifice of one’s life for the sake of others, such as that of Jesus Christ, is especially powerful and reminds us of how precious the people in our life are. When her father Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel) ordered his henchmen to raid her village to find her, Aurora couldn’t find a safe escape for her family. She could only ask Lolita (Rosanna Roces) to take care of her daughter and take her away from all the danger. In the face of danger, it was still her instinct to help. When Mara (Julia Montes) was in a deadly gunfight against several men, Aurora (Sharon Cuneta), a passerby at this moment, arrived at the scene. The odds didn’t seem very good for Mara as she got knocked out and was close to being shot. A kidnapped Aurora was escaping her captors, went to a church, and prayed for her safety. Unfortunately, her enemies were closing in so she had to hide in the confession room. Mara, who was also at the church, quickly recognized the dangerous men and attacked them before they could get hold of Aurora. Cardo also suffered a gunshot wound that left him incapacitated. He could only beg Mara for help. Suffering from the Mariano’s (Rowell Mariano) forced imprisonment and abuse, the two girls feared what else the man could do to them. But this fear doesn’t stop them from fighting back. As Mariano tried to touch them, Ellen decided to pick up a knife and threatened to hurt Mariano if he came any closer. This angered Mariano, but stopped him from doing anything to her and Cassandra. </p><p>Like these characters, would you also be willing to sacrifice your own life for others?</p>
