As Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin) carries out his mission to kill corruption and enlighten his countrymen, the episodes of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano inevitably mirror situations we face in reality such as in politics. Check out this Kapamilya Toplist of scenes from the long-running action-drama series that accurately depict real political issues and scenarios.

The video opens with Cardo’s strong message about politicians and high-ranking officials’ filthy deeds, and how even the ordinary Filipino can make a difference by taking action. “Kung gusto natin makakita ng pagbabago, tayo mismo ang kumilos,” he said. As Cardo spoke, his teammates emerged from behind, altogether making a pact to deter crime and corruption as the vigilante group Vendetta.

In time for the 2019 elections, the teleserye dedicated a story arc about Vice President Lucas Cabrera (Edu Manzano) and his political ambitions. In the story, Lucas strengthened his ties with former Pulang Araw member and defense officer Renato Hipolito (John Arcilla) to take over the government.

Lucas and Renato went as far as abducting Brother Lorenzo (Rey PJ Abellana), the religious sect leader who refused to endorse their candidacy. In a scene, Vendetta, with the help of Andi (Jessy Mendiola)’s group, infiltrated Lucas’ miting de avance to rescue Brother Lorenzo. In a conversation that followed, Vendetta and their friends talked about their recent missions from saving Brother Lorenzo to shutting down a troll center, as well as their next operation to block possible electoral fraud at voting precincts.

On election day, Vendetta spotted occurrences of vote-buying, Lucas’ last option after his team’s unsuccessful tampering of voting machines. However, Lucas failed again as the public reported the unlawful practices instead of selling their votes.

At some point, the media was also represented in the story through Teddy Arevalo (Joel Torre), Alyanna (Yassi Pressman)’s father and an investigative journalist who boldly criticized corrupt officials including Lucas, despite the threats to his and his family’s safety. “Kahit ilang buhay pa ang kanilang paslangin, mas lalo lamang tumatapang ang Pilipino. Mas lumalakas ang pwersa ng mga naniniwala sa katotohanan at patuloy nilang isinisigaw ang tawag ng katarungan. Isantabi natin ang nararamdaman nating takot. Asahan natin na nasa panig natin ang Diyos,” Teddy wrote on his page while a loud public protest was interspersed in that scene.

The show currently airs another timely and relevant election arc. The recent episodes witnessed a fictional debate between Presidential aspirants Renato and Lily (Lorna Tolentino). The opponents answered questions related to drugs, terrorism, economy, and a candidate’s moral record.

Renato promised to end the country’s long battle against drugs but Lily rebutted pointing out his criminal record, which Renato easily dismissed. She also brought up his lapses as a long-time government official and his alleged troll camps.

As the two engaged in a heated face-off, Task Force Agila tuned in and exchanged their viewpoints while Mara (Julia Montes)’s group listened. They called politicians like Renato and Lily liars who can easily manipulate people with their sweet promises. They debunked the candidates’ argument to end drug problems when they’re actually drug lords themselves. Lolo Delfin (Jaime Fabregas) also reacted to Renato’s promise to export resources, which contradicts existing rice importation practices.

For the finale round, Renato and Lily both vowed to end the Task Force Agila, which they tagged as terrorists. Lily asked the public to give her just three months to arrest the Agilas, otherwise she’d resign from her post.

The video ends with Diana (Angel Aquino)’s woke comment, “Magaling talaga magsalita ang mga ito, kaya rin napapaniwala nila ang mga Pilipino na totoo ang mga sinasabi nila at totoo ang mga intensyon nila.”

Task Force Agila gears up for a bigger battle as election draws near, so don’t miss an episode of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
