But even when they’re gone, we cherish their generous wisdom and love that served as our guiding light while they were still here. Kapamilya Toplist rounded up scenes of Lolo Delfin (Jaime Fabregas) giving Cardo clearer perspective and strength in his missions in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

From when he reunited with Cardo and asked him to take over Ador (Coco Martin)’s life, Lolo Delfin played a significant role in molding him.

He is Cardo’s ultimate role model for being a good cop. One reason his pieces of advice are easier to accept is that he lives by example. He’d always remind Cardo to be slow to anger. He’d often stress that a policeman must be ready to serve and not to avenge.

Lolo Delfin is Cardo’s inspiration in keeping a good reputation. “Kailangan mong gawin ang lahat para maibalik ang dignidad at magandang pangalan ng ating pamilya na matagal nating pinagka-ingat-ingatan,” he told him.

Besides his nuggets of wisdom about honor and career, Lolo Delfin also passes on the best love advice. When he noticed Cardo and Alyana (Yassi Pressman) were having problems, he asked Cardo to fix the cracks while he can, “Ang bilis ng takbo ng oras. ‘Pag lumipas ‘yan, hindi na maibabalik ‘yan.” He said time running out will only lead to regrets.

He’s there in every new chapter in Cardo’s life, probably to remind him that life is not always dark. The younger Agila is disheartened at times but the battle-hardened General holds on to hope. Sometimes he’d also feel scared. But he never let Cardo know.

Lolo Delfin provided Cardo with directions, helping him strategize in their biggest battles. One of his best defense game plans is to know what to expect from strangers. He was the first one to doubt Armando (John Estrada)’s character. When the thirst for revenge took Cardo on detours, Lolo Delfin was there to put him back on the right path.

Every time he speaks, Lolo Delfin sounds like saying goodbye. Now we understand why. The last scene in this video montage was taken from Lolo Delfin and Cardo’s heartfelt conversation before heading to Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel)’s art exhibit.

In the scene, Cardo asked Lolo Delfin to be on guard. The latter seemed ready whatever happens. “Medyo matanda na ako. Huwag mo akong alalahanin. Ikaw ang mag-ingat. Mas marami ka pang magagawang kabutihan para sa bansa natin. Ikaw ang mag-ingat,” he told him.

Until his final breath, Lolo Delfin kept his promise to always protect his beloved Cardo.
