There’s an oft-quoted pragmatism “there are no permanent friends and permanent enemies, just permanent interest” that can be applied especially in the game of politics. It’s no surprise Lito (Richard Gutierrez) and Albert (Geoff Eigenmann), both driven by wickedness and selfish ambitions, easily shifts alliances. From comrades, the two have become enemies again, shown in this Friday 5 feature from FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

Lito’s syndicate group and Albert’s Black Ops used to work in tune as long as the latter would get the right pay. But things got rough when Black Ops failed to anticipate the appearance of Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel)’s men during a 20-billion drug transaction. Lito blamed the ex-cops, who explained that they have limited intel since Art (Tirso Cruz III) suspended them from their posts.

Offended, Albert approached Lily (Lorna Tolentino), the big boss who controls both groups, to have them reinstated. Likewise insulted, Lito called Albert to remind him that they’re still under his command because he’s the one supplying them with money and machinery.

But the Black Ops leader refused to be controlled again. Albert insisted that they’re uniformed men working in the government and he can order Lito’s arrest if he wanted to. Lito laughed at Albert’s arrogance, then pointed out that the Black Ops played a role in their recent drug transactions, as if blackmailing him.

The tension resulted in a breathtaking gun confrontation as Lito’s convoy blocked that of Albert. The leaders exchanged warnings while their men pointed guns at one another. Upon learning that the Black Ops will meet with the First Lady to discuss Cardo (Coco Martin)’s search, Lito demanded information about the Task Force Agila’s whereabouts. Albert turned down the request, saying they’re no longer his puppets but police officers who vowed allegiance to the government.

The confrontation could’ve ended in a bigger fight had their men failed to think through Lily’s possible reaction. Then, both camps agreed to just let their emotions pass and wait for Lily’s say.

Don’t miss an episode of the long-running action-drama series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
