We saw triumph instead of sorrow when he figured his older brother was in critical condition and might die anytime. He could only think of chasing after Don Ignacio’s riches once he’s gone.Feigning kindness, he visited Don Ignacio at the hospital and said he regrets being the family’s black sheep. Through their conversation, we learned that Eduardo used to waste their family’s money on vices, and that he’s jealous of Don Ignacio for gaining their parents’ trust. Therefore, the family’s wealth was entrusted to Don Ignacio.The prodigal brother decided to reconcile with his family, thinking he’d be lord once Don Ignacio dies. But to his surprise, his niece Aurora (Sharon Cuneta) came home upon hearing news of Don Ignacio’s attempted assassination. He also failed to deceive Don Ignacio, so he was sent out of the hospital. His brother managed to survive and it was bad news to him. Wise and cunning, however, Eduardo ordered his men to stage Aurora’s abduction. Then, he arrived just in time to save her. That way, he would appear as the hero and finally get the ticket back to Don Ignacio’s mansion.They arrived back in the hospital. Eduardo’s presence annoyed Lucia (Vangie Labalan). But he was able to convince Aurora of his heroism. Meanwhile, Don Ignacio took Eduardo’s selflessness as an assurance of loyalty and change of heart. He assigned him to command Aurora’s bodyguards and carry out important orders for him.Eduardo promised to kill and get killed for his family. True to his oath, he kidnapped the man who granted Lito (Richard Gutierrez) the rights to a property that was supposed to be Don Ignacio’s. As soon as the hostage spilled the clue, Eduardo didn’t waste time shooting him.The next scene hinted at Eduardo’s next target – Lito and the foreigner he negotiated with.
