Alexa Ilacad’s “Star Magic Ball” style evolution: From sweet to edgy

Alexa Ilacad started her Star Magic Ball red carpet journey at 14 years old. Even then, she has already mastered the art of fashion (in an age-appropriate way).

But as she’s grown up into a fine young lady, her glam wardrobe has evolved from ‘Cinderella’ gowns to a darker silhouette and a flash of skin too. Thus, we’re all excited to see what she’d be wearing to the upcoming ABS-CBN Ball.

A few days before the much-anticipated and star-studded affair, let us first enjoy these throwback photos of Alexa from the past Star Magic Ball events.

The Kapamilya beauty’s first Star Magic Ball appearance dates back to 2014, the year she and then-loveteam partner Nash Aguas got their biggest break as NLex by starring in the drama series “Bagito.” Therefore, it was no surprise that the two walked the red carpet shoulder to shoulder. How do you swathe a rising teen star? Alexa’s designer did a great job by opting for a youthful halter gown adorned with an intricate beadwork. The pearl headband added romantic vibe to her soft curls.

She had a dreamy Cinderella moment at the ball's 2015 edition, where she donned a voluminous off-shoulder princess gown in the shade of pastel pink. Akin to yesteryear, she completed her look with a hair accessory – a bejewelled headband that resembles a flower crown.

Little by little, Alexa would lace her style with subtle changes. But certain things would remain the same — her penchant for voluminous skirts among them. In the 2016 edition, rather than looking princess-y sweet, she carried an ethereal elegance in her sleeveless white gown with delicate appliques in the bodice. That year, she was paired with Nash in the cotillion dance.

And just like that, she was all grown up in a black tube dress during the ball’s 2017 staging. Alexa bid goodbye to her usual Cinderella ball gowns, swapping them for a black straight-cut tube dress with a high slit. Her hair accessories? Gone. She just wore her hair down in 2017. It was indeed the era of a bolder Alexa. That year, she starred in the mystery-drama “The Good Son,” as well as crossed over to the music scene, carrying her spunky pop-rock style.
