Great talent may come even in small packages, as how child wonders prove that they have a colossal amount of potential in their small bodies.

In the riveting world of local entertainment, the limelight is given to cute and talented child stars, like Imogen Cantong of It’s Showtime’s “Isip Bata” segment. The little girl shows just how endearing she is with big tasks such as singing the theme song of the noontime show’s “Mini Miss U” segment and recording her own track titled “Da Da Da”.

In an episode of “Tao Po,” 6-year-old Imogen chatted with Bernadette Sembrano and revealed that “Da Da Da” was taken from the melody she used to sing in her dad’s studio when she was only two years old.

“’Yung buong bulk ng ‘Da Da Da,’ siya talaga ‘yun,” shared her dad Rey Cantong, adding that they hired a composer for the song’s verses inspired by fun memories of childhood games.

In case you didn’t know, she’s the daughter of Rey and Kaye Cantong of Six Part Invention band. Rey and Kaye are supportive of their unica hija’s dreams and budding career without neglecting her needs as a child. They let her be like any other fun-loving and ‘makulit’ little girl when she’s not busy making music.

For them, education is still their priority and they don’t force Imogen into doing things she’s not comfortable with. Once the new school year begins, they would again limit Imogen’s TV appearances to focus on her studies.

They credit It’s Showtime for her big break in showbiz. They acknowledge that being a kiddie panel in “Isip Bata” started it all for Imogen. Through the program, she was also able to gain new friends and grow her group of supporters called “imogen Nation.”

“Sobrang proud kami na at an early age, na-achieve niya ‘yung mga ganito. Kung ano ‘yung mga hindi namin nagawa, nagagawa niya kaya nandito kami para suportahan lang siya,” expressed Kaye. Rey added, “I think, masasabi ko na this is her time po talaga. Nag-uumpisa pa lang siya.”

It's no surprise that the young girl picked Six Part Invention as her favorite artist to listen to. Apart from her mom and dad, she also admires Sarah Geronimo, her inspiration to learn dancing. She loves Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez as well and sometimes they get to sing together backstage.

Imogen, who dreams to become a successful singer, as well as a drummer and guitarist, is a fantastic promise to the OPM scene. With her velvety voice and passion and big dreams, we know she’s going to be a huge music maven.
