Gillian bares whirlwind romance and heartaches of young love in Dear MOR: “Budol Love”

<p>Falling in love can be an exhilarating experience, especially when it’s the first time. But love can appear in different shades and colors. Sometimes, it can do more hurt than good.</p><p>For a young love that began during the pandemic, such as that of Claire and Kenneth’s in the <strong>Dear MOR Celebrity Specials </strong>episode “Budol Love,” the situation is much more complicated. Aside from being teenagers who are still learning about love and life, their whirlwind romance began online and factors such as limited communication and parental restrictions play a role in their relationship. In one of the mobile online battle arena games, she got teamed up with a guy in a duo-player fight. That guy was Kenneth.</p><p>Claire and Kenneth started to regularly play games together, with their voice calls turning into video calls. Definitely they were close, but if they were ‘just friends’ or something more was beginning to blur. Claire even shared how Kenneth would slip pick-up lines when they were on a call or video chat.</p><p>It was clear that Kenneth was interested in Claire, but Claire didn’t let herself fall too easily. Her mother’s reminder to finish studies first and not have a boyfriend yet kept knocking at the back of her mind.</p><p>Kenneth, on the other hand, was persistent. While receiving such sweet gestures from a boy was all new to Claire, she caught herself catching feelings. Even if she hadn’t met Kenneth in real life, she eventually said yes to being his girlfriend while keeping it a secret from her mother.</p><p>Given that they were hiding their relationship and the pandemic was ongoing, it was difficult to be together. Kenneth would beg Claire to make time for him and physically meet up, so Claire would sneak around to do so. It came to a point that this became the root of their fights, since Claire couldn’t always find a way to leave without her mom finding out about them.</p><p>A turning point in their relationship was when Claire missed Kenneth’s birthday, as she initially promised to be there. Kenneth tried pushing it with Claire, but she stopped him and said she wasn’t ready to go any further. Kenneth ignored her, but Claire was firm she didn’t want to do something she’d regret. This irritated Kenneth, ending their passionate moment.</p><p>After that incident, Claire noticed that Kenneth began turning cold towards her. Could it be that Kenneth just wanted to sleep with her? Claire didn’t want to believe it, so she tried fixing things with him.</p><p>Unfortunately, after several tries, Kenneth didn’t see Claire as the person he liked anymore. Claire also saw how much Kenneth had changed. The two weren’t able to reconcile their relationship, so Kenneth just ended it.</p><p>Claire is still mending her broken heart, wondering where everything went wrong. After concluding Claire’s story, MOR DJs Popoy and Bea offered their advice for her. For them, Claire and Kenneth were still immature, leading to many misunderstandings and toxic tendencies. While she impressively represented Claire’s innocent and giddy feelings through her voice, she thinks Claire was also quite stubborn when it came to love.
