This year’s Independence Day became extra special with Filipino heritage and style reigning supreme at the Museo Del Galeon in SM Mall of Asia when it was transformed into a spectacular celebration of culture with the highly anticipated TernoCon 2024 last June 10. Once again, the prestigious event brought together talented designers, stunning creations, and a community united in celebrating this beautiful Filipino legacy through fashion.

Through the collaboration of Bench/ lifestyle + clothing and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the fashion show titled "KKK: Kasarinlan, Kultura, Kasuotan," commemorated the 126th year of Philippine Independence by showcasing the rich history of our culture through the iconic terno through three trailblazing fashion designers—Jojie Lloren, Cary Santiago, and Jaggy Glarino—who wowed the audience with collections that paid homage to Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, with each collection was a personal tribute, weaving stories of our heritage into every piece.

Lloren’s collection, which he titled "A Lullaby for my Mother" set the tone for the night, starting it off with 12 elegant ternos which paid homage to his beloved mom and the Motherland. Santiago followed with his own 12-piece collection "Ikonograpiya" which wowed everyone with the creative inclusion of iconic symbols like the Sampaguita, the Philippine national flower, jeepney, and sorbetes (Pinoy ice cream), all set in the vivid colors of the national flag. And last but not the least, Glarino’s creations "Lemlunay,” which was composed of nine ternos and three barongs, still managed to impress as he took inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of Mindanao.
