Legal wife vs other woman: Scorching showdowns, striking linyahan in Kapamilya teleseryes

<p>Through the years that we’ve been watching teleseryes, we have probably seen an array of clashes among characters that brought us to the edge of our seats and left us all mind-blown. And among the most remarkable and most ferocious collisions we’ve witnessed are between legal wives and mistresses, which five we listed in this feature, along with the iconic lines that still resonate to and become part of pop culture!</p><div> </div><div><strong>The intense face-off between Monica and Nicole, </strong><em>The Legal Wife</em></div><div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="703" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_kS7K3HZQfo" title="Ang matinding sabunutan nina Monica at Nicole | The Legal Wife" width="1250"></iframe></div><p><strong>Iconic lines:</strong> <em>“Walang sa’yo,</em> Nicole! <em>Akin lang ang asawa ko!</em>” – Monica</p><p>One of the most notable series of ABS-CBN in the 2010s, <strong><a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/articles-photos/115112318-throwback-11-iconic-lines-of-monica-and-nicole-in-the-legal-wife-13825" target="_blank"><u>The Legal Wife</u></a> </strong>(2014) provided us with a string of iconic scenes that have truly stayed in our minds rent-free even years after it was finished. And among the scenes that we liked were the scorching showdowns between its lead characters Monica and Nicole, impeccably portrayed by seasoned actresses Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador, respectively.</p><p>Those who are able to watch can certainly recall that the two women are fighting over Adrian (Jericho Rosales), the husband of Monica who has an illicit affair with Nicole. As Nicole continues to wreck their marriage and unapologetically imposes to Monica that Adrian is also hers and that it’s her whom he truly loves because he still chooses to continue their forbidden romance, Monica loses it and vehemently attacks her. Nicole is only able to stop the infuriated Monica by telling her that she’s pregnant with Adrian’s child.</p><div> </div><p><strong>The heated altercation between Janine and Yvonne</strong>, <em>Two Wives</em></p><div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="703" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RjfNrmdgnM0" title="Janine to Yvonne: Wag kang bitter!" width="1250"></iframe></div><p><strong>Iconic lines:</strong> <em>“Ilang beses mong paulit-ulit na sabihin sa akin na isa akong masamang babae? Ano pang gusto mong itawag sa’kin, ha? Kabit? Desperada? Kerida? Magnanakaw ng asawa? Ahas? Higad? Bakit, nabago ba ng nga lahat ng masasakit na salitang ‘yon ang katotohanan na ako na ang mahal ni </em>Victor <em>at hindi ikaw? Kaya ito ang sasabihin ko sa’yo, makinig ka. ‘Wag kang</em> bitter!”</p><p>Another <em>teleserye kabit</em> who got on our nerves is Janine, astoundingly portrayed by Erich Gonzales in <strong>Two Wives</strong><u>,</u> the Filipino adaptation of the Korean drama of the same title that aired in 2014. She may appear delicate and prim, yet she actually has the capacity to ruin a family, which she’s able to prove through her illicit affair with Victor (Jason Abalos). Unlucky for her, the OG wife of her paramour, Yvonne (Kaye Abad) is actually <em>palaban</em> and will do everything to stop them.</p><p>Aside from slapping her and hurling snide remarks at her in this thrilling encounter, Yvonne even implies that she’s not going to let them live blissfully together by not agreeing with their annulment and charging them with “concubinage”. Yvonne’s wrath further escalates when Victor arrives and she does not spare him by giving her not just one, but three strong slaps for everything that the two of them have done to her.</p><div> </div><p><strong>Dana loses her mind after Jia’s confession</strong>, <em>Love Thy Woman</em></p><div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="703" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3x8MEhXXhBU" title="Dana, nagwala nang malaman ang katotohanan | Love Thy Woman (With Eng Subs)" width="1250"></iframe></div><p><strong>Iconic lines:</strong> “I will never forgive you for what you’ve done to me! And I will never forgive you for that! Because of you, <em>wala sa’kin si</em> David! I’m gonna kill you!”</p><p>Even in the midst of the pandemic, ABS-CBN is unstoppable in providing us with quality content, one of them being <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/lovethywoman" target="_blank"><em><strong><u>Love Thy Woman</u></strong></em></a>, which was aired as an afternoon soap opera in 2020. As if the almost incessant showdowns between the legal wife Lucy (Eula Valdez) and mistress Kai (Sunshine Dizon) aren’t enough to make the story complicated, things have an exciting turn when illegitimate daughter Jia (Kim Chiu) develops an illicit affair with the David (Xian Lim), the husband of firstborn Dana (Yam Concepcion). This happened while the latter was comatose after a fatal accident, which spawned a baby boy. </p><p>Jia and the rest of the family agreed to hide it from Dana as she was still recovering then, with Jia and Kai choosing to stay in Singapore for quite some time for her cancer medications, too. Of course, that revelation enrages Dana, mercilessly assaulting her and vehemently yelling at her parents for their betrayal. Jia tried to apologize and assured her that she immediately tried to cut off her connection with him, but Dana refused to believe her and wished her to be dead.</p><div> </div><p><strong>Ellice humiliates Marissa</strong>, <em>Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin</em></p><div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="703" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qwpGbryg2F4" title="Ellice humiliates Marissa in front of the employees | Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin" width="1250"></iframe></div><p><strong>Iconic lines:</strong> “<em>Nakakaawa ka. Kahit gaano pa kaputi ‘yang mga perlas na ibalot mo sa katawan mo, mawawala rin ang pagkasilaw ng mga tao. Lalabas at lalabas ang dumi ng kalooban mo!” –</em> Marissa</p><p>Another teleserye to create a mark on Kapamilya audiences in 2020 was <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/angsaiyoayakin" target="_blank"><em><strong><u>Ang Sa Iyo Akin</u></strong></em></a>, which revolves around the story of two best friends-turned-mortal rivals Ellice and Marissa, compellingly portrayed by seasoned actresses Iza Calzado and Jodi Sta. Maria, respectively.</p><p>As the board agreed to terminate Marissa from her position in Ceñidoza Pearls after Ellice exposed her relationship with her husband Gabriel (Sam Milby), Marissa wasn’t able to help herself from confronting Ellice, which resulted in a gripping showdown between them that was witnessed by the entire office. Ellice didn’t simply humiliated Marissa by alleging her of seducing her husband, but also hurled a dripping wet cleaning rag at her after slapping her and pushing her to the floor.</p><div> </div><p><strong>Jill reveals David and Lexy’s relationship</strong>, <em>The Broken Marriage Vow</em></p><div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="703" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/p9twzxVSVgo" title="Jill reveals David and Lexy’s relationship | The Broken Marriage Vow" width="1250"></iframe></div><p><strong>Iconic lines:</strong> “<em>Papunta palang tayo sa </em>exciting part.” – Jill</p><p>Two years later, Jodi Sta. Maria goes on to astound us with another notable performance in <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/tbmv2022" target="_blank"><em><strong><u>The Broken Marriage Vow</u></strong></em></a>, the Filipino remake of the hit K-Drama “<em>The World of the Married Couple</em>,” this time as a wife eager to exact revenge on her philandering husband David (Zanjoe Marudo) and his other woman Lexy (Sue Ramirez).</p><p>From being reserved, her character Jill finally mustered the courage to expose their extramarital affair to the parents of Lexy when they went to their house along with David for a spontaneous dinner. What was supposed to be a good evening turned instantly awful after Jill brazenly relayed to Mr. and Mrs. Lucero that David and Lexy had been romantically involved for two years already. She didn’t just tell them that Lexy is sleeping with her husband, but she also broke the doctor-patient confidentiality by revealing that she went to the United States to have an abortion.</p><p>An infuriated and embarrassed Lexy spanked Jill on the head, which the latter simply shrugged off and nonchalantly left the scene as Mr. Lucero thrusts David to the floor.  </p>
