Sometimes it’s okay to shake things up a bit in the wedding department. Currently, we’re noticing the younger generation of couples infuse modern trends in wedding ceremonies. And by adding these unique twists and refreshing updates, the big event becomes even more personal to the bride and groom.

Even some Kapamilya teleseryes have showcased unique and trendy wedding ideas that beautifully break tradition. After looking into the wedding scenes in Kapamilya series that went for the classic romantic route in our previous feature, this time, we’re putting the spotlight on the weddings that opted for the modern and glam theme.

Pasion De Amor

Breaking tradition with a triple wedding? Leave it to the Elizondos and Samontes! Dubbed as primetime’s hottest series then, Pasion De Amor served up a grand nuptial for the Elizondo sisters Norma (Arci Muñoz), Sari (Ellen Adarna), and Jamie (Coleen Garcia), and their partners, Samonte brothers Juan (Jake Cuenca), Oscar (Ejay Falcon), and Franco (Joseph Marco). The ladies wore bridal gowns in different styles, with delicate lace details – a balance of sexy and elegant – carrying huge rose bouquets in red to symbolize their passion-filled romances.

On the Wings of Love

Turn your wedding into a trendy art as Clark (James Reid) and Leah (Nadine Lustre) did in “On The Wings Of Love.” The very millennial church wedding was full of sappy, artistic symbolism. Every detail represented a piece of Clark and Leah’s love story – from the ‘wanderlust’ theme to the use of paper bouquet, dove origami in the backdrop (reminiscent of their kismet-ushered first childhood meeting when one got the other’s pet dove), and Tatang Sol (Joel Torre)’s jeepney. It also rained poetry, with real-life spoken word artist Juan Miguel Severo, who was part of the cast, reciting a refreshing ‘hugot’ piece about love. Even the couple’s vows departed from the typical overly romantic lines, opting instead for youthful expressions that made us all the more ‘kilig.’

You’re My Home

Going for an all-white palette in a venue with lush greenery also creates a bold statement of modern simplicity. The venue styling of Gabriel (Richard Gomez) and Marian (Dawn Zulueta)’s wedding in You’re My Home created a contemporary feel with clean aesthetics and fresh floral ornaments. The bride also ditched the traditional long-train wedding gown for a minimalist sleeveless wrap-neckline dress. To add a pop of fun to the ceremony, the officiant, played by Tonton Gutierrez, brought handcuffs for the couple.

In You’re My Home, Gabriel and Marian painted the beauty of second chances by marrying again after a myriad of ordeals split their relationship and family apart. The cute and creative use of handcuffs as props during the ceremony was therefore fitting to stress that they’re finally home in each other’s arms and are never leaving again.

Magpahanggang Wakas

Beach weddings are considered non-traditional, compared to weddings that are usually held in a church or an indoor venue. The shore has always been a special place for Waldo (Jericho Rosales) and Aryann (Arci Muñoz). It’s where their love story in Magpahanggang Wakas started, making it a perfect venue to begin their future as husband and wife. Beach weddings are always ‘aww’-inducing especially when you have a love story like that of Waldo and Aryann that stood trial. The red motif and the sunset were both strong and calming like the couple’s love for each other.

Marry Me, Marry You

Nothing spells more millennial than pink! Andrei (Paulo Avelino) and Camille (Janine Gutierrez) put a modern-chic spin on their minimalist white wedding by adding pink details. Another thing we love about this wedding scene from Marry Me, Marry You is how it deviated from the usual overly dramatic ‘feels’ of a typical Pinoy teleserye wedding. The couple wasn’t tearful; rather, they were all-smiles throughout. No drama. Just plain happiness.

FPJ’s Batang Quiapo

With all the black details and mood lighting, Ramon/Albert (Christopher de Leon) and Mokang (Lovi Poe)’s wedding in the currently airing teleserye FPJ’s Batang Quiapo has certainly made a statement. While we weren’t huge fans of their ‘love story’, we can’t help but find their dark-themed wedding so alluring. The venue felt like an old gothic banquet hall, amplifying the dark fairytale vibe as Mokang walked the black carpet. This wedding was totally edgy and unconventional!

All weddings are beautiful, but they look even more gorgeous when infused with something out-of-the-box, like these Kapamilya teleserye weddings. Which one is your favorite?
