Many parents would agree that there’s no love and happiness as pure as they felt when they saw their child after the delivery. New parents Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano sure felt that way when they met their daughter Isabella Rose for the first time. In their latest vlog titled “The Birth of Isabella Rose Tawile Manzano,” the couple documented their birthing journey – from when Jessy was brought to the hospital to the time she gave birth and brought their baby home.

As the video commenced, we see them in the hospital waiting for Jessy’s scheduled caesarean delivery on December 28, 2022, at 7:20 in the morning. According to Jessy, Baby Rosie, or Baby Peanut as they like to call her, had a cord coil that required a C-section.

“Siyempre, ayaw natin i-risk. Since first baby ko, medyo mahirap makalusot si Peanut. So, may tendency na siyempre ‘pag pinilit siya lumusot, sisikip ang cord coil niya, so mas mahihirapan siya huminga,” said Jessy.

While waiting inside the delivery suit, Luis took over the vlog and talked how excited he was. “Ito na! Magiging family of three na kami! Maya-maya, magiging erpat na ako. Wow! Madali to take it lightly habang nandu’n pa sa tiyan ni [Jessy]. Pero ‘yung alam mong nalalapit na… na mayayakap mo na and nandu’n na ‘yung life talaga, wow!”

Of course, he was understandably anxious, “Wala, eh. Hindi ka makaka-prepare para sa moment na ‘to, eh… But eto na. This is the start of another journey. Kumabaga dito na papasok ‘yung hard work bilang magulang. Realign a lot of things sa buhay.”

The video then cuts to a montage of their pregnancy journey up until the moment they first held Baby Peanut. It was pure love at first sight!

In the clips taken from December 29 to January 1, we see the start of Luis and Jessy’s parenting duties, which includes coping with sleepless nights. Luis was so smitten, and Baby Peanut looked so comfortable with her dad. She would smile whenever her daddy carries her and tells her ‘I love you.’ There was also a moment when Jessy caught Luis crying while cradling and gazing at their newborn. He can look at Baby Peanut every second, every day, forever. And he also promised to make her “smile for a lifetime.” He’s a proud girl dad!

The little family spent New Year’s Eve in the hospital. Luis’ mother Vilma Santos and stepdad Ralph Recto gushed over Baby Peanut during their video call.

The couple also shared snippets of their first hours at home. They are extra hands-on in taking care of the baby and even sleep in Peanut’s nursery. Her first visitor was her grandma Vilma, who couldn’t hide her excitement. Luis joked, “Kinakabahan ako ah! Parang first time humawak ng bata. Feeling ko nabagsak ako nu’ng bata ako kaya ako naging ganito,” as Vilma seemed scared to hold the baby.

Then it cuts to a video montage of Luis and Jessy cherishing the bliss of their first days as parents. Jessy also admitted that Baby Peanut looks a lot like Luis!
