More than chemistry, Janine Gutierrez and Paulo Avelino brought us meaty lessons about love and what ifs as they answer questions from netizens in this episode of Kapamilya Confessions.

But, first, PauNine delighted their ardent fans by sharing trivia bits about themselves in the “Complete the Sentence” game. Here, they revealed that food is their biggest splurge. Had they pursued other careers, he’s most likely an entrepreneur today while she’s probably a diplomat.

The last time they cried was because of a movie for Paulo, and while watching her ‘Mamita’ Pilita Corales’ concert for Janine. They’re most comfortable in their house clothes.

Those who know them well know that he loves motorbikes while she loves dogs and French fries. Asked to complete the statement “I want to put my [blank] on your [blank],” Paulo and Janine borrowed lines from a song.

Answering questions from netizens, PauNine mentioned they first worked on the film “Ngayon Kaya,” which recently premiered in theaters, before they did Marry Me Marry You. It was therefore on the set of the Kapamilya series where they got to know each other more. Besides, the lock-in setup helped them form a close friendship. Paulo said he discovered Janine’s kind-heartedness. Meanwhile, she’s surprised at his wisdom.

They also opened up about love and what ifs inspired by their movie’s theme. For them, it’s better to risk friendship for a relationship than have regrets in the end. “Dapat isugal mo ‘yan kasi life is short. Parang mas masakit ‘yung matanda ka na tapos hindi mo man lang nasubukan,” explained Janine. She added that you can always go back to being friends if the relationship doesn’t work out, that is if the friendship has a solid foundation.

Paulo seconded, “It’s better to be clear with everything kung may nararamdaman ka, para if ever, kung magle-level up, eh ‘di good for the both of you. Kung hindi naman, at least alam ninyo ‘yung limitations ninyo for the relationship.”

Being honest about your feelings will also save you from what ifs. For PauNine, what ifs are just a waste of time.

They believe in the importance of commitment in a relationship. And it should be given mutually. If the other person couldn’t commit though, they said maybe it’d be best to just move on.

Also, they think it’s normal to cut people out of your life, especially in a toxic relationship or even friendship. Sharing a piece of advice from her mom Lotlot de Leon, Janine said, “It shouldn’t be so hard. Kapag meant to be, dapat swabe lang. Huwag mong ipilit ‘yung mga ayaw.”

On lessons they learned from their movie, Janine talked about taking risks. “You really shouldn’t let opportunities pass you by para sa mga taong mahal mo. Kung mayroon kang mahal, kailangan mo talagang ipakita, sabihin, at iparamdam sa kanila para in the end, no regrets. Mas mabuti nang ginawa mo lahat kesa sa huli, magsisi ka.”

For Paulo, it’s all about sticking to your decision wherever it leads you to, “Minsan talaga may point sa buhay mo na kailangan mong mag-decide kung left o right ka lang, eh. Walang in between. Parang yes or no lang ‘yung sagot. Minsan kailangan mo lang talagang pangatawanan ‘yung desisyon mo at tumuloy-tuloy sa desisyon na ‘yun. And, maybe don’t look back kasi parang nagiging baggage siya as you go on in life.”
