Janine Gutierrez has been busy in over just a year since becoming a bonafide Kapamilya. Join her as she looks back on her first ABS-CBN projects in this edition of Kapamilya React.

For her first official assignment under ABS-CBN, the doe-eyed beauty dramatized a real-life quarantine love story opposite JM De Guzman in Maalaala Mo Kaya “Quarantine Pass.” She recalled feeling nervous since it was her first project after her transfer. But she easily adjusted to her new environment, “Sobrang saya pala talagang mag-taping sa Kapamilya. Super, parang, surreal na makapag-MMK.” She said JM’s brilliance as an actor helped make work easier, “Mahusay naman talaga siya na artista so it wasn’t hard to do the scene with him.”

It was followed by the primetime series “Marry Me Marry You,” a romantic-comedy, with Paulo Avelino as her leading man. In the video, Janine reacted to her big confrontation scene with Teresa Loyzaga. Admittedly, she was challenged acting out that scene, “Ang mahrap dito ‘yung choreography ng away kasi kailangan magmukha siyang totoo. But at the same time nakakahiya kay Ms. Teresa, ayoko siyang masaktan. Super saya na we were able to pull it off.” She added that Teresa was just cool about the hair pulling, screaming, and all.

Janine calls herself lucky to have worked with seasoned actors in the show. To recall, the series had Edu Manzano, Cherry Pie Picache, Sunshine Dizon, Vina Morales, Lito Pimentel, and Jett Pangan in the cast. “Grabe talaga ‘yung cast na pumalibot sa amin sa ‘Marry Me Marry You’ at sobrang saya nila panoorin,” she looked back. Janine further shared a piece of advice from Cherry Pie, “Just be truthful sa mga eksena at lalabas ‘yun.” The clip made her miss their “tambay as a cast” moments after taping and the bloopers that lead to “asaran.”

At the moment, she’s busy promoting her film “Ngayon Kaya.” She’s reunited with Paulo in the big screen, although they started filming pre-pandemic even before “Marry Me Marry You.”

In the video, she watched the scene wherein AM, her character, and Paulo’s Harold, wanted to extend their time together but can’t. “Parang ang sakit nung clip na ‘yun,” she reacted.

The award-winning actress promised that “Ngayon Kaya” is different from “Marry Me Marry You.” Their characters’ connection in the movie can be traced back to their college days, whereas Camille and Andrei started as total strangers.

Also, “Ngayon Kaya” is a ‘hugot’ film that explores the idea of what ifs, “Parang right person, wrong timing. Pero, what if ma-meet mo ulit ‘yung right person ngayon? Ang sakit lang ‘di ba na parang hindi kayo maka-tiyempo sa isa’t isa. So, what will you do to make it work now?”
