KarJon’s words of affirmation for each other will hit you right in the feels!

Receiving affirmations from a special someone, a friend, or sometimes even a stranger can help a person feel a greater sense of self-worth. It is such a powerful love language. In this “Spellbinding” Challenge, “Hex Boyfriend” stars Karina Bautista and Aljon Mendoza express appreciation for each other’s best qualities, and in the process reveal some ‘kilig’ off-cam stories that only they know about.

Karina first spoke about Aljon’s authenticity, “Genuine siya. Feeling ko ‘yung mga reactions niya, kung ano’ng mga sinasabi niya, ‘yun lang talaga ‘yung nararamdaman niya at the moment.”

And how cute is it that she admires his being carefree but hates it at the same time? “Sobrang kalmado niya kahit in times of ngaragan, ikaw ‘yung parang, let it be.” Aljon remarked, “Pero kinainisan niya ‘yun dati sa akin,” prompting Karina to reveal that she hated how he seemed unbothered even at times when he was running late for work. She remembers him telling her that panicking would not change the situation, anyway, which she couldn’t comprehend at first, admittedly being the more panic-stricken and easily stressed out between them.

Instead of feeling bad about it, Karina is fascinated by their differences such as his being close to his family, which she didn’t experience growing up independent.

Moreover, she admires him for being an animal lover. She noticed that he’s an eager learner too, “Lagi niyang ina-underestimate ‘yung sarili niya, na parang, ‘Hindi naman ako ganu’n ka-smart. Hindi naman ako ganito dati, nu’ng high school ako matalino ako.’ Feeling ko bumaba lang ‘yung self-esteem mo nung time na ‘yung siguro. Tapos ngayon nakukuha mo ulit. Kaya sabi ko, ‘Wow! Parang may panibago siyang path na tinatahak.’” She continued, “Parang ang layo ng dating from Aljon na nasa PBB na charming lang until nag-evolve ka into someone na may ginagawa ka for the country.”

Meanwhile, Aljon lauded Karina for being a caring friend, divulging one of her sweetest gestures when he got sick, “Nagulat ako kasi tinext niya ako, ‘Nag-iwan ako ng drinks at ng gamot sa harap ng pinto ng condo mo.” Tapos, ‘Pagaling ka.’”

“Hindi ko alam kung naaalala mo ‘yun,” he faced her.

“Naaalala ko ‘yun. Dapat bang nire-reveal ‘yung mga ganu’n?” she laughed

He also conveyed words of affirmation for her being a Daddy’s girl, “Napaka-cute lang for me kapag nagkukuwento siya about her dad, talagang naku-cute-an ako.” This made her heart swell, saying that the mere mention of her dad puts her in a good mood. She loves every bit of moment spent with her dad, although their love language is ‘asaran.’

He observed that she likes kids, and he knows how much she loves her younger cousins and that she often treats them out and brings them to the cinema.

Aljon added that Karina is so organized that she plans her whole week ahead. However, she admitted that the downside of this is struggling to manage unplanned moments, “Kasi sa trabaho natin, hindi naman talaga natin siya maplano kasi hindi siya consistent na 8 to 5 na work. Hindi ko ma-plan ‘yung life ko. Tapos nabigla ako na hindi pwedeng may plano ka kasi hindi mo naman talaga alam ‘yung mangyayari sa’yo.”

Lastly, he praised her for being a survivor, “Kahit anong challenges sa buhay, siyempre, of course, may times naman na it’s normal siguro na ma-feel mo ‘yung masaktan or anything. Pero one thing is for sure, tatayo at tatayo ka.”
