What do Kim Chiu and Francine Diaz have in common? Undeniable wit and bubbly personality that made their recent YouTube collab – an English translation challenge– a super fun thing to watch!

In Kim’s latest vlog, she competed with Francine in translating Tagalog phrases to English. Well, they didn’t play top-notch linguists but rather just enjoyed the game with their craziest translation hacks; for example, saying the word in reverse. Francine asked, “What’s the English of bakat?” Kim answered, “katba!”

Or, keep it direct, like when Francine translated “Sa pag-ibig, walang pangit, walang maganda, walang gwapo, payat, o mataba, pero kabit marami” into “In love, there’s no ugly, there’s no pretty, there’s no handsome, there’s no thin, there’s no thick. But, CONNECTIONS, so many.”

Or, just add ‘ness’ as a suffix to make it sound fancier, like when Kim translated “Ang kaartehan, naaayon sa itsura” into “The ARTENESS matters if you’re pretty.”

The duo was crazy hilarious all throughout. As what netizens said on the comment section, “90% tawa, 10% vlog!” In the latter part of the video, Kim gave Francine one of her favorite bags as belated birthday gift.

Kim and Francine’s closeness grew after working in the mini-series “Bawal Lumabas” in 2020. Back in 2017, Francine also played as younger counterpart of Kim’s character in the Kapamilya series “Ikaw Lang Ang IIbigin.”
