Singing can be a demanding activity, especially for professionals like Klarisse de Guzman, who is gearing up for her first major solo concert. That’s why she makes sure to keep her voice healthy with basic vocalization techniques.Klarisse tells Kapamilya Chat that she keeps her vocal warm-ups simple. For instance, she’d just open her mouth wide to make a gliding “haaa” sound.When it comes to vocal warm-ups, singers just follow what suits them. Others reserve their voices before performance, but in the case of Klarisse, she’d rather keep the vocal chords awake, “Ako kasi, ang nakasanayan ko, kailangan ko siyang paganahin. Kasi ‘pag hindi ko siya, like, matagal ako hindi nakakanta ng ilang oras parang natutulog siya. As much as possible, may gagawin akong songs pero hindi naman to the point na birit na birit. ‘Yung gumagana lang siya.”We’ve heard of artists who avoid certain food such as cold drinks or desserts but not Klarisse. She reveals that even Regine Velasquez drinks cold water after her song number.Losing their voice before a performance is just a normal scenario among singers. When that happens, her advice is to create adlibs or look for alternate notes, “Hindi mo naman kailangan ipilit. Mararamdaman mo naman kung hindi mo kaya kasi mas nakakahiya naman ‘pag pumiyok ka. So mas maganda baliin na lang.” She underscored that singers must be honest to their coaches and the band.Asked about her most unforgettable on-stage performance, she looked back on the finale night of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/yourfaces3" target="_blank">Your Face Sounds Familiar</a> wherein she impersonated Patti Labelle. She said their batch put their best effort to deliver amazing performances, considering that it was at the height of the pandemic so they had to tape three episodes every week.
