Louise Delos Reyes shares her love for baking, picks the best pastry for specific people

There’s never a bad time to give a cake, cookie, and all kinds of baked goodies, thus Louise Delos Reyes looks at baking as a form of service to her loved ones and customers of her pastry shop.In case you didn’t know, she’s currently enrolled in a culinary school in pursuit of her dream to become a pastry chef. Louise told Kapamilya Chat that she might have taken the baking genes from her mom, “Lumaki ako na amoy tinapay ‘yung kusina namin. Every Saturday, natatandaan ko since kinder ako hanggang grade two, meron siyang mga friends at nagbe-bake day sila ‘pag Saturday.”But, she completely ignored the possibility of flexing her baking skills, until she was invited to join a baking class last December. She sighed up just for fun, got a certificate, and her love for baking started to grow from there.Louise is now in charge of her boyfriend’s mom’s pastry shop called “Mrs. Muffins.” And she loves every bit of her newfound career, “Gusto ko palaging may ginagawa for someone. Mapa-character man ‘yan o mapa-bagay, gusto ko ‘yung service sa ibang tao.”With that, Kapamilya Chat asked her to take on the “Pastry For You” Challenge where she would think of the best pastry for specific people. For students who feel stressed with their studies, Louise would recommend a bite-sized chocolate tart that has gelatin-like chocolate inside and creamy chocolate on top. She said that people usually crave anything sweet or salty when stressed.For the broken-hearted, her best choice is classic chocolate cake, which will give them comfort. “Kasi ‘yung classic cholocate cake, may layer siya ng caramel tapos meron din siyang chocolate ganache sa labas. Every bite, malambot, may warmth. Pwede mo siya kainin nang malamig, pwede rin naman medyo iinitin mo nang konti para matunaw ‘yung chocolate.”For street vendors and frontliners, she would offer them something packed with flavors and health benefits, specifically a quiche with vegetables like mushroom, and with bacon and scrambled egg. “Hear me out. Masarap siya. Hindi siya weird,” she promised. “Hindi lang siya matamis, may savory feeling. Para ‘pag pagod na pagod ang ating street vendors at frontliners, ‘yun ang kakainin nila kasi all-in-one na siya.”Asked what she would give her boyfriend, Louise revealed that Gino only eats one type of dessert: his mom’s chocolate cupcake. That’s why she studied Gino’s mom’s chocolate cupcake recipe, which she perfected just on her second try. She said that Gino felt like he was transported back to his childhood days upon tasting the chocolate cupcakes.“Masarap din mag-aral ng baking kasi mata-transport ka sa iba’t ibang parte ng memories mo na hindi mo inaakalang nandu’n pa pala,” shared Louise.
