Queen Things! Nadine bonds with Maricel over flower arranging, Q and A about their careers

<p>You will know the power Nadine Lustre holds when she invites no less than the Diamond Star as the first celebrity guest on her vlog. Read on and watch the video to see how their bonding went.</p><p>In her latest YouTube entry titled “Sundate with Inay Maricel Soriano,” Nadine was seen standing behind a table with flowers and vases. She then introduced her guest and told her that flower arranging would be their activity for that day. The veteran actress liked the idea, gushing about the therapeutic effects of flowers. While arranging the lovely blooms, the ladies also exchanged insightful stories and lessons about their careers.</p><p>Nadine first asked what Maricel is like behind the cameras, sans the “Diamond Star” title. According to Maricel, she doesn’t put on a mask because that’ll be difficult to maintain, “Tapos baka makalimutan ko kung kanino lang ako ganito, ay mahuhuli ka nu’n. Mas maganda ‘yug maging consistent ka kung sino ka talaga.”</p><p>Nadine reacted that she used to be a people-pleaser when she was starting out in showbiz, bringing to Maricel’s mind the time when she juggled three different personas for three different movies at once. “Hindi ko alam kung paano ko nagawa ‘yun. Pero tuwing isusuot ko ‘yung costume nung isa, shoot naman ako doon sa character.”</p><p>However difficult, it all boils down to passion. Take it from Maricel: “Kailangan kasi sa trabahong ito, minamahal at saka binibigyan ng priority. Hindi lang basta-basta gawa lang nang gawa.” She continued, “Syempre, hindi natin magagawa ‘yun lahat. Pero ang importante alam mo kung sino ka.”</p><p>Maricel went on to talk about her decision to venture into vlogging. “Wala akong ginagawa sa buhay ko na hindi ko gusto. Gusto ko masaya. Gusto ko makukulit. Life is short. You have to make the most out of it. Baka magsisi ka, eh.”</p><p>These wise words made Nadine ponder the importance of time, “Especially sa brother ko, no’ng nawala siya na-realize ko na sana nag-spend pa ako ng more time with him. Sana nagsabi pa ako ng ‘I love you.’” She also noted that a person carries the same energy from people surrounding him/her and that karma truly works. “Kung mabait ka sa ibang tao, parang ang ganda ng karma na babalik sa’yo,” expressed Nadine, to which Maricel reacted, “Lalo na ‘pag ginawa mo ‘yan nang maganda sa trabaho mo. Kasi ang trabaho ‘pag minahal mo, babalikan ka ng pagmamahal.”</p><p>Nadine further shared that there came a point when burnout waned her passion for acting. She questioned why she had to go through challenges just to be able to do what she loves. On that, Maricel imparted, “Anak, marami ka talagang pagdadaanan lalo na kasi ‘pag malapit ka kay God, maraming pagsubok. Pero kung talagang mahal mo itong trabahong ‘to at gusto mong ituloy, ituloy mo.”</p><p>Nadine also started young in the industry. Though she values her journey, there was a point when she regretted missing her childhood. Maricel can relate to Nadine’s sentiments, having started as a child star as well, “Minsan kailangan nating isakripisyo ‘yung malaking bagay na ‘yan.” She added that she has no regrets; instead, she appreciates what showbiz has given her in return.</p><p>Asked who she looks up to, Maricel mentioned the late Comedy King Dolphy, saying she still remembers his pieces of advice to this day. She also revealed that the greatest challenge she encountered as an actress was to make sure her movies perform well in terms of ticket sales. She had to work hard in promoting her projects unlike now when artists may simply promote on social media.</p><p>At the end of the video, the two mused the joy and challenges of acting, with Nadine pressing that it’s not the job for the weak. Maricel further underscored, “Kung meron kang ipagyayabang, ‘yun ay ang pagmamahal na ibibigay mo sa Kanya at ‘yung respeto.” That’s why the veteran actress condemns bad attitude on set. But, so far, she’s lucky to have worked with respectful young artists and she wishes to share a project with Nadine soon.</p><p>Finally, asked what she’s grateful for, Maricel mentioned her life and her kids.
