Avid beauty pageants are surely familiar with since this is the iconic question that bestowed Indian beauty queen-turned-actress Sushmita Sen the most coveted Miss Universe title and crown when the competition was held here in the Philippines in 1994.</p><p>While this question might have gotten a variety of responses through the years since womanhood is definitely more than rearing a child and women in modern times are capable of doing just everything, but for many, they consider motherhood as their purpose and ultimate dream as women. It may be a journey filled with ups and downs, but it is still a fulfilling experience as the end of the day.</p><p>And for some, motherhood starts in pregnancy. As we continue to celebrate National Women’s Month, let’s revisit the maternity photoshoots of the fierce celebrity momshies listed in this Kapamilya Snaps feature, which were all about empowering and praising womanhood.</p><div> </div><div><strong>Iza Calzado</strong></div><p>There’s an oft-quoted adage that says, “Life begins at 40”. And this speaks true to Iza, who received the biggest blessing of her life when she got pregnant for the first time at the age of 40 in 2022. She described her pregnancy journey as “the first time in my life that I fully embraced my body and the DIVINE POWER inside me.”</p><p>For International Women’s Day last March 8, the <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/darna" target="_blank"><em><strong><u>Mars Ravelo’s Darna</u></strong></em></a> actress shared never-before-seen photos from her maternity shoot, in which she was captured in her birthday suit.</p><div> </div><div><strong>Anne Curtis</strong></div><p>Aside from the confidence that she exudes every time she performs and presents herself, another thing that we love about Anne is the confidence she has toward her body, even when she was pregnant with her and husband Erwan Heussaff’s firstborn Dahlia.</p><p>In 2020, the <strong><u>It’s Showtime</u></strong> host astonished us when she uploaded daring shots of her deific beauty while flexing her baby bump not just once, but twice. The first one was with her husband Erwan on New Year’s Day, while the second one was on her 35<sup>th</sup> birthday, in which she looked like a goddess straight out of a painting.</p><div> </div><div><strong>Angelica Panganiban</strong></div><p>A month prior to welcoming her and husband Gregg Homan’s beloved Baby Bean, Angelica served her followers a sultry pictorial at the beach and on a yacht while cladded in sexy outfits in different silhouettes and colors.</p><p>“Thank you for making my dream maternity shoot into a reality. <em>Ang</em> severe <em>nito</em>,” Angelica expressed in an Instagram post.</p><div> </div><div><strong>Jessy Mendiola </strong></div><p>We can all agree that Jessy is one of the most blooming <em>preggo</em> we had ever seen. And that was further highlighted in her maternity pictorials, wherein she confidently showed off her beautiful body and baby bump by wearing sheer clothing.</p><p>She used flowers as props in the two photos that she uploaded in October 2022, more than two months before giving birth. It was indeed the perfect peg as she was carrying her and husband Luis Manzano’s daughter who they named “Isabella Rose”.</p><div> </div><div><strong>Angeline Quinto</strong></div><p>Her pregnancy indeed came as a surprise to us when she confirmed it in December 2021. And 31 weeks into her pregnancy, she proudly flaunted her baby bump in the couple of photos she uploaded on IG, wherein she was seen cladded in dreamy dresses that beautifully highlighted her femininity.</p><p>“Napakasarap sa pakiramdam na maranasan lahat ito. Lalo kasama ang mga taong malapit sa puso ko,” the “Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs” wrote in one of her posts.</p><div> </div><div><strong>Isabelle Daza</strong></div><p>As we all know, Isabelle is one of the most straightforward and ever-confident celebrities in local showbiz – and we love her for that! In the past three pregnancies that she went through, she had been really honest and candid about her journeys, especially when it comes to talking about her body.</p><p>And the actress wasn’t just open about her experiences on social media and during her interviews, as she also bared it all in her first maternity shoot in 2018, which she posted on her milestone 30<sup>th</sup> birthday. Meanwhile, she was totally pretty in pink as she showed off her baby bump on her 35<sup>th</sup> birthday, which was a few days before she and husband Adrien Semblat welcomed their third child Esmeralda on March 23, 2023.</p><div> </div><div><strong>Riva Quenery </strong></div><p>Since it was her first time to be a mommy, Riva celebrated this monumental milestone by transforming into the Greek goddess. And it was indeed a fitting concept as she and partner Vern Ong named their daughter Athena Rae as they welcomed her on October 12, 2021.</p><p>Aside from donning a white skirt with intricate appliqued design, heavily-encrusted accessories, and brass headpiece, the former GirlTrends member also wore long, wavy red hair that complemented the orange backdrop. She captioned one of her posts, “The strength of a mother is like no other.”</p><div> </div><div><strong>Roxanne Barcelo</strong></div><p>Last, but definitely not the least, in this roster is Roxanne, who must have had a lot of fun posing in the maternity pictorials she had while still pregnant with her and husband Jiggs’ firstborn Cinco. She also shared a photo of her flexing her baby bump beautifully captured by Jiggs, who she revealed in one of her posts fondly call her “his ‘goddess of fertility’”, which made her feel beyond flattered.</p><p>Roxanne dubbed the different themes as the “Path to Selfhood” and wrote in one of her posts “Assert your own uniqueness and celebrate your personal achievements.”</p>
