Kapamilya Snaps: The Unkabogable stints of Vice Ganda in ABS-CBN Christmas IDs

Vice Ganda may have been in the local entertainment scene for decades already, but it was only through her inclusion on <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime" target="_blank">It’s Showtime</a> in 2009 that turned her into a household name and eventually a sought-after TV and movie personality and concert performer – gaining her the “Unkabogable Star” moniker.Due to her astounding comedic chops and remarkable words of wisdom, a lot of Kapamilya fans always look forward to seeing her onscreen. And the same goes for her appearances in ABS-CBN Christmas Station IDs through the years, which we’re going to revisit in this edition of Kapamilya Snaps.<a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime" target="_blank">It’s Showtime</a> may have started in 2009, but it was only in the following year that Vice made his debut in a Kapamilya Christmas Station ID. Together with her fellow OG hosts, they recreated the talent competition “Showtime” by bringing it to an urban community where they mingled with the residents and watched dance various groups perform.In the 2011 CSID “Da Best Ang Pasko Ang Pilipino,” she and her co-hosts were seen cheering up a Kapamilya balikbayan as they enthusiastically welcomed him at the airport. In the next two CSIDs, they were in the presence of the madlang people as they sang along to “Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kuwento ng Pasko” in 2012 and to “Magkasama Tayo sa Kuwento Pasko” in 2013.For 2015’s “Thank You, Ang Babait Ninyo”, the Unkabogable Star and her co-hosts chose to honor and express their gratitude to hardworking teachers who were among the audiences watching live in an episode of the noontime program.The following year, she met and brought inspiration to the scholars of Punlaan School in San Juan City. Embodying the message of the “Isang Pamilya Tayo Ngayong Pasko” anthem, she told the students, “Ang swerte-swerte n’yo kasi kahit anong hirap ng buhay, meron at merong mga taong tutulungan kang mapagaan ang buhay mo. Maganda na ‘yong nangyayari sa inyo ngayon, mas maganda ‘yong mangyayari kapag natapos kayo dito sa eskuwelahan na ‘to.”Vice and the <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime" target="_blank">It’s Showtime</a> family paid homage to Filipino workers on their show as they sang along with them to the catchy tunes of “Just Love Ngayong Christmas” in 2017. She was chosen to be one of the voices behind the LSS-inducing 2018 anthem “Family Is Love” as seen in the Christmas Station ID.In 2019, she was able to prove how fitting the moniker “Unkabogable Star” is to her as she paired her red “Family Is Forever” shirt with a shimmering red tulle skirt as she and her co-hosts had a touching reunion with former <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/tawagngtanghalan" target="_blank">Tawag ng Tanghalan</a> contestant Teresita Cachero, who was accompanied by her loved one Carlo Bautista.Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Vice continued to bring smiles and inspiration to everybody in the 2020 Christmas ID “Ikaw Ang Liwanag At Ligaya” by being one of its singers. She sang the lines, “Kami ay may lakas na harapin ang bukas / Ikaw ang gabay sa bawat landas”.In the “Andito Tayo Para Sa Isa’t Isa” Christmas ID in 2021, Vice appeared with her beloved spouse Ion Perez and mom Nanay Rosario.For last year’s “Tayo ang Ligaya ng Isa’t Isa” she didn’t just show up once, but twice. Initially, she was seen happily mingling with the madlang people and giving out gifts to them, along with her <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime" target="_blank">It’s Showtime</a> family. She was then singing along with a few Typhoon Karding Survivors in an episode of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/everybodysing" target="_blank">Everybody, Sing!</a> while cladded in a relief goods-inspired costume.And for this year’s “Pasko Ang Pinakamagandang Kuwento,” Vice and her <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime" target="_blank">It’s Showtime</a> fam depicted one the most beautiful stories we’ve witnessed this 2023 – the end of network wars. And they did it by standing side-by-side with a few Kapuso employees outside the GMA headquarters as they sang along to this year’s hymn.
