Just when we thought that the nation has already moved on from the iconic teleserye kontrabida Daniela Mondragon, brilliantly portrayed by Dimples Romana in Kadenang Ginto, we’ve found ourselves delighted when she brought it back to life during her appearance in Vilma Santos-Recto’s latest vlog.

In this vlog, Vilma shed off her “Star for All Seasons” status as she willingly took on the role of being a
“Yaya for a Day” for Dimples, who’s going to be her kumare since she tapped her to become one of the godparents of her youngest child Elio Juan Manolo. This also serves as the fulfilment of Vilma’s dream of becoming a servant, which used to be a dream of hers when she was still a kid.

Thus, as a way of making her on-screen nanay-nanayan’s ambition come true, Dimples heeded to Vilma’s request for her to transform into her Daniela persona, complete with the remarkable red dress that she wore. It may have appeared really unlikely to her and jested that she might lose her job, but she just went with it.

The vlog turned into a mini production, wittingly titled “Yaya, Yaya, Bakit Ganyan Ka?” and started off with Vilma having to change into a “home angel” uniform. For her first duty for the day, she had to change the nappies of Baby Elio, to which she apparently had a difficult time. Thankfully, her namesake Ate Vi, Dimples’ home angel for 19 years already, was there to be her willing substitute.

She may be anxious when it comes feeding babies as she imparted getting panicky when one of her sons got choked by milk, the actress-politician still accepted the challenge, and even sang her hit “Sweet Sixteen.” She also succeeded in making him burp.

Despite already firing her for five times already, Daniela still gave Vilma a chance to prove that she indeed deserves the job by gauging her cooking skills. Before she began, Daniela first asked how she is as a mom, to which the latter retorted, “Mabait po akong nanay. Kasi po sinisigurado ko po na kapag lumaki po ‘yong mga anak ko, sila po ay maging productive human beings, a God-loving person. I see to it that they should know how to respect elders.”

Their fun chikahan went on while the veteran actress was cooking, from her films, her skincare routine, and secret to her longevity. As Dimples took charge of the cooking, Vilma gamely heeded her request for her to sample her version of shouting “Darna”, since she starred in four movies as the Pinay superheroine. As soon as Dimples finished cooking sinangag or fried rice, Vilma told her to bring it to the dining room as she left the kitchen first.

For sure, a lot of viewers got bitin of their amusing collaboration. So, fret not because there’s going to be a part 2 next week that will be uploaded on Vilma Santos-Recto’s YouTube channel!

Their first-ever vlog collab marks what seems to be their first on-screen 13 years after the 2009 Star Cinema family drama flick “In My Life,” which the Star For All Seasons topbilled alongside Luis Manzano and John Lloyd Cruz, and where Dimples played the role of her eldest daughter Dang. Prior to that, they also got to work in the film adaptation of the novel “Dekada ’70” in 2002, which Vilma also headlined and where Dimples was her daughter-in-law.
