Last week’s (May 27 to May 31) episodes of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo commenced on a high note as our blood pressure also shot up because of Lena (Mercedes Cabral) and Rigor (John Estrada). Even though Camille (Yukii Takahashi) had already told the truth regarding what really happened during the encounter between Lena and Tanggol, which infuriated Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), Rigor still chose to side with Lena and believed her claim that Tanggol indeed harmed her. He even pinned the blame on Marites for allowing her firstborn to set foot in their house ever again, which absolutely left her and Camille dumbstruck.

As Lena expressed her fear that Marites and Tanggol would hurt her again, Rigor finally gave in to her request to sleep beside her in her room. That gave Marites the hint that her husband was indeed already choosing his mistress and their baby more than their family.

Drowned by their family’s piling problems, Marites went on to have a drink and was joined by their friend Mando (Allan Paule), who consoled her not to blame herself for everything that has been happening to their family since it was Rigor who’s really at fault in this mess. He also assured her that she would always have a friend in him no matter what happens.

The following day, Marites and Lena once again got into a heated altercation after the former confronted the latter for further stirring the anger of Rigot against Tanggol. This prompted Lena to walk out and then told Rigor that they were once again ganging up on her, which infuriated him and prompted him to berate them, especially Lena.

Apparently threatened by Tanggol after winning their last pool match and seeing the special relationship he and Bubbles (Ivana Alawi) have, Pablo (Elijah Canlas) made the bewildering bold move of buying the bar of Baste (Niño Muhlach) for 15 million pesos. However, it’s not because he wanted to really acquire the business as he saw it as a good technique to have full control of Bubbles.

While he promised to keep Baste as the manager along with his other employees, Pablo exempted Tanggol since we all know how mad he is at him. This exasperated Bubbles, so she decided to plea on Pablo, who would only grant her wish to also keep Tanggol in his job as a bouncer on one condition – if she would agree to go with him on another date. Left with no choice, Bubbles accepted it, which really made Tanggol totally angry since he didn’t want her to put herself in danger just for the sake of helping him.

She told Tanggol that it was her way of paying back all the help and sacrifices that he made for her and her grandpa while they were still inside the correctional. Besides, she also reminded him not to worry so much about her because she can definitely handle herself.

With how greatly concerned she is about Tanggol, Frida (Diwata) and Jelly (Kim Rodriguez) couldn’t help but ask Bubbles about her real feelings for him. At the same time, her cousin Emong (Nikko Natividad) also couldn’t help but wonder the same about Bubbles, telling Tanggol that he may be special to her. They were further teased by Frida by daring them to shake hands and make amends as their way of proving that no sparks are flying between them.

They obliged since both of them were not keen on revealing their romantic feelings yet for one another, which got Frida really kilig. The two of them may be both in denial regarding how they feel, but Frida already had an inkling that Tanggol and Bubbles were just hiding their love for each other. While Bubbles went inside her room smiling and so kilig since we all know that she harbors huge admiration for him, Tanggol found himself pondering about what he really felt towards her.

Tanggol once again attempted to discourage Bubbles from pushing through with her second date with Pablo. But she told her not to get worried about her reiterating that she can definitely handle herself and that Pablo is kind and gentleman so she’s confident that he would do her no harm. Olga (Irma Adlawan) interrupted their breakfast by informing Tanggol that Ramon, a.k.a. Alberto (Christopher de Leon) is already back, as well as regarding his whereabouts.

As Tanggol expressed anew his eagerness to avenge the death of the ultimate love of his life, Mokang (Lovi Poe), Bubbles stopped him and reminded him of their pact about being consistent in his journey to a renewed life. However, he told her that he was willing to veer away from it, especially for Mokang. Upon hearing straight from her daughter that she sacrifices her life for him, Olga chimed in by advising Tanggol to not be in a hurry because there’ll surely be other ways to exact vengeance against him.

She may portray a holier-than-thou image, but Doña Bettina (Tessie Tomas) got her husband Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas) and their granddaughter Catherine (Ara Davao) annoyed as she insisted that the young lady must give David, a.k.a. fake Jesus Nazareno (McCoy de Leon), the chance to pursue her even though she already expressed her disapproval of him because he’s too aggressive. Further enkindling their frustration was when she uttered that the only role of Catherine in their family is to get married to a scion of an affluent family.

It was revealed later on that Doña Bettina and Don Facundo only got married out of convenience, which explains the reason why they seem to lack affection towards each other and frequently argue even on little things. Thus, she wanted Catherine to do the same since she firmly believes that it’s not love that makes the world go around, but money. She may not be genuinely happy, but she doesn’t care since she is filthy rich.

While his Kuya Tanggol is still confused about his feelings towards Bubbles, Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) already has a girlfriend. Annika (Dexie Diaz) once again professed her love for him after he thanked her for the boxing gloves that she gave him as a gift. Seeing how he had gone timid with her confession anew, she eased his hesitations by kissing him on the cheek, which prompted him to hold her hand. And we just found out in her conversation with her bestie Phoebe (Thamara Alexandria) afterwards that they’re officially a couple.
