FPJ’s Batang Quiapo: Tanggol hailed as the new boss of his group, Marites got into fights with Rigor

The previous week’s episodes (October 21 to October 25) of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” commenced with the Dimaguiba brothers, Tanggol (Coco Martin) and David (McCoy de Leon) being at two different gambling dens. While David lost all the money that he earned during a high-stake poker game, luck was obviously at Tanggol’s side as he didn’t simply win a whopping amount of money, but also acquired the gambling den where he played after defeating its owner in a one round of Lucky 9 match with the Star of Venus as his wager. Another stark difference between them was that while Tanggol was busy plotting to expand their group’s business, David was wasting away all the money he inherited from the Caballeros.

Even though Col. Manuel Suarez (King Gutierrez) asked them to immediately report to him once the keeper of Star of Venus, who happens to be Tanggol, showed up again at their gambling den, Conchita (Mae Paner) and Sebyo (Rolando Inocencio) chose to not obey him upon finding out that they’ll only get P1 million as a reward out of the total monetary value of the coveted gem. Thus, they simply trusted Tanggol’s promise to keep them in their current posts.

Now that he and his group own the gambling den, he proposed to make significant changes in the business, such as putting up a bar inside it, hiring female guest attendants, and selling cars to the customers, to which everyone agreed. Even though he had a lot of painful and heartbreaking experiences in Quiapo, mainly due to his father, Rigor (John Estrada), Tanggol still pushed for him and his friends to visit there to check on their families and neighbors, as well as share their blessings to them.

Meanwhile, Primo devised a new plan as he and his group aim to start a new life, but they have to get the money that Lucio took away from them first. Even though it still broke his heart to leave Tanggol, whom he considered as his own child, Primo was already resolved in letting him do his own thing until he learns the lesson that they’ve been wanting him to realize.

Ramon (Christopher de Leon) brought Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) at a fancy restaurant supposedly to treat her with a sumptuous meal and to talk to her, but she was not keen on keeping him company. Thus, Ramon was compelled to immediately express his apologies, which Marites still found difficult to accept because of the pains, trauma, and sufferings that she went through after he sexually assaulted her many years ago.

As Marites walked out of the restaurant, Ramon followed her not only to tell her that his driver would take her home, but to also reiterate his concern for her. He told her, “Tess, I hope you realize your worth. Mahalaga ka.”

Little did Marites knew that tension erupts at their household anew as soon as she arrived after Rigor (John Estrada) confronts Roda (Joel Lamangan) for reporting him to NLEA. She caught Rigor assaulting Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) for helping out Roda and mustering the courage to fight back at him that got him fuming mad and quickly stopped them. A scorching altercation ensued between the couple, with Marites once again astonishing the viewers with her bravery in denouncing Rigor for repeatedly blaming them for all the problems they have that it was him who originally caused.

After he was invited by Edwin (Ping Medina) to the Red Phoenix hideout to be introduced to Lucio (Ronnie Lazaro) and the Batang Tondo gang, Santino went back the following day to seek his help in finding him a job. However, just when he assumed that they would give them a decent one, he was shocked to find out that he would be asked to murder a person. But being the innocent young man that he is, Santino retracted.

Despite his failure to prove himself to the group, Lucio gave Santino not only a few sums of money that he can give to his mother, but also another chance to attest to him that he was right about him. Unbeknown to Santino, Lucio only wanted to win him over in order for him to exact revenge at Tanggol, Amanda (Lorna Tolentino), and Primo (Lito Lapid). And his convincing powers apparently worked as Santino was already determined to prove himself worthy of being part of their group.

The following day, the altercation between Rigor and Marites continues as the former insisted for them to get back to how they used to be since he already resolved their problem by kicking Lena out of their house. But instead of getting intimidated by him, Marites stood her ground and reiterated to him that it’s still a problem since he is her baby daddy. Meanwhile, Lena, who continues to earn the trust and favor of her landlord and landlady, Marcing and Nita, tried to call Rigor only to be ignored by him.

After their successful acquisition of the gambling house laying their initial plans in further expanding their ventures, Divina (Rosanna Roces) pitched another proposal to Tanggol and his friends. As all of their businesses are connected, she’s eyeing for the gambling to be their front for selling cars and they’ll used the cars they sell to transport the drugs, so they will avoid getting caught.

Now that their group is growing and they’ll soon double their riches, not to mention that it was him who has brought tremendous success to their group, she thought that it’s only right that it is him who will be their new boss. Being the humble man that he is, Tanggol was initially hesitant to take it, but he was prodded by his friends and Madonna (Kim Domingo), who showed their utmost support on him.
