The action and emotion totally rose in the past week’s episodes (July 29 to August 2) of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo as we witnessed the nail-biting skirmishes that involved Tanggol (Coco Martin), as well as the harrowing bloody demise of Bubbles, which marks the departure of Ivana Alawi from the show.

After successfully taking his friends out of jail, along with Bubbles’ (Ivana Alawi) grandfather, Celso (Soliman Cruz), Tanggol and the group of Primo (Lito Lapid) relayed to them that they’re going to work under Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas) as his hitmen in exchange of helping them get out. This draw mixed reactions from them, but Tanggol explained that he had deeper reasons for relapsing to the thug life, including what happened to Bubbles, which truly devastated Celso.

Through their conversation, Celso confessed that Bubbles was only adopted by their family after being entrusted to them by his former wealthy boss. As he vowed to exact vengeance for her, Tanggol admitted that he already did by killing the culprit, which shocked his friends and was deeply appreciated by Celso.

As soon as Bettina (Tessie Tomas) confirmed that the woman on the photos that David sent to him was indeed Bubbles, David (McCoy de Leon) and his henchmen immediately set off to catch her. Bubbles exerted all her might to protect herself and their household by fighting them, but to no avail as David succeeded in fatally shooting her, which led to her slow and painful death.

On their way to Jelly’s (Kim Rodriguez) house where Bubbles and company were staying, Tanggol and Celso saw several male residents of Sitio Sandingan brawling with David’s minions. Just when Tanggol was about to get himself involved, Celso stopped him and reminded him of their original mission of going there, which was to check on his family.

Upon seeing Bubbles wounded and struggling, Tanggol angrily returned outside to go after the culprits in his attempt to avenge her. Just when we thought that he was able to finally finish off David by shooting him multiple times, viewers were totally dismayed when it was revealed that he didn’t sustain any gunshot wound since he was wearing a bulletproof vest then. Instead, it was Celso who died after being shot by David during their nail-biting altercation. Tanggol also didn’t have the chance to find out that his wicked brother was mainly behind this mess after David’s right-hand, Bullet, hit him with a shovel on the head, leaving him unconscious.

At the same time, David also didn’t have the chance to carry out his other mission, which was to eliminate his brother, as Bullet advised them to leave as quickly as possible before the people of Sitio Sandingan would mob them.

As soon as he gained consciousness, Tanggol immediately checked on Celso, who used his last few breaths to tell him to take care of Bubbles. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t be able to do it anymore as she was already lifeless when he returned to Jelly’s house. That left him completely devastated and furious, apologizing to her for failing to protect her and vowing to exact vengeance for her.

Just when David thought that Ramon (Christopher de Leon) would be delighted about what he did, he was all wrong as he got mad at him instead. Ramon had gone more enraged when David retaliated at him, which incited him to punch and strangle him. He almost got him killed if Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) didn’t stop him.

Blinded by her love for Rigor (John Estrada), the pregnant Lena (Mercedes Cabral) still volunteered to donate blood to him, as she was his only match. Meanwhile, David immediately came to the hospital after being notified that his father had to undergo operations. He was able to pay the entire amount needed and went on to hurl insults at Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) and Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) after she was only able to produce 25,000 pesos, which she borrowed from Marcing (Pen Medina) and Nita (Susan Africa).

Upon learning from the news that Celso was among the convicts who escaped from prison, Olga (Irma Adlawan) immediately went back to Sitio Sandingan to see if he was there with his family. And she got the most terrible surprise and heartbreak of her life when she found out that her beloved daughter was already dead. She furiously approached Tanggol, pinning the blame on him for the untimely death of Bubbles and wishing that he were dead as well.

Tanggol defended himself by telling her that he was equally hurt by what happened and eager to find the one who murdered Bubbles. Olga then had an encounter with her ex-flame Marcelo after so many years, yet neither of them were able to recognize each other. Before leaving Sitio Sandingan, she called the police to report that Tanggol and the fugitives were there, and they immediately arrived to seize them.

Marcelo and Primo’s group got into a heated altercation, after Amanda (Lorna Tolentino) warned Primo about helping Tanggol and his friends, especially upon learning that two lives were lost because of him. However, Primo was still persistent in helping them since he cares for him and knows that they could back them up when the time comes that they’ll face their enemies, which was the group of Lucio.

Since David succeeded in fulfilling her wish to have Bubbles killed, Bettina pushed for the wedding between him and her granddaughter Catherine (Ara Davao) to finally happen soon. As much as Catherine hated the idea, especially her groom-to-be who forced himself to her again during the pamamanhikan, she couldn’t do anything but to abide by what her grandma wants.

Despite their lives being in danger, Tanggol and his friends stealthily attended the interment of Celso and Bubbles, in which Rigor and his colleagues were on guard in hopes of catching them. Olga and her henchmen were also there to take her daughter’s remains and put her in the mausoleum where her other loved ones were also laid to rest. As much as she didn’t want to, Betchay (Erlinda Villalobos) couldn’t do anything but let them take Bubbles away and hope Tanggol could so something about it.

Little did Betchay know that Tanggol and his friends were indeed there to fulfill her wish as they were able to open her tomb and transfer her to the last resting place that Betchay prepared for her beside Celso. Even though their lives will be at risk, his friends still vowed to stay by his side and continue supporting him in his endeavors.
