It was indeed a literally and figuratively explosive week (July 22- July 26) in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, as it featured scenes brimming with intensity, thrill, and even drama.

Many viewers were probably left in bated breaths and at the edge ofour seats as we witnessed the confession of Olga (Irma Adlawan) to her estranged daughter Bubbles/Samantha (Ivana Alawi), as well as the nail-biting shootout between the group of Tanggol (Coco Martin) and the battalion of policemen that involved his adoptive father Rigor (John Estrada).

The past week’s run commenced with the arrest of Edwin (Ping Medina) after Roda (Joel Lamangan) reported him for selling illegal drugs. Instead of being brought to the police station, the arresting officers brought him to P/LT Luis Jacobe (Victor Silayan) and P/LT Mario Samonte (Jorel Ramirez), who were waiting for him at a secluded place. They freed him as their way of honoring the truce between PMGen Augustus Pacheco (Julio Diaz) and the Red Phoenix, to which Edwin, Lucio (Ronnie Lazaro), and the rest of the Tondo Gang are members.

David (McCoy De Leon) aggressively confronted his brother, Tanggol, upon catching him talking to his “apple of the eye” Catherine (Ara Davao). As he tried to repeatedly throw punches at him, Tanggol was agile enough to point a gun at him to warn him about misdeeds while his partner, Camille (Yukii Takahashi), is heavily pregnant.

Their altercation came to a halt as Tanggol had to retreat upon seeing a police car passing by and quickly returned to his comrades to relay the information to them. Everybody got worried, of course, that they might be in the midst of a setup, but Tanggol and Supremo (Lito Lapid) were able to convince them to wait for Marcelo (Nonie Buencamino) as he promised to help in taking his friends out of the prison.

On the other hand, David got anxious when Rigor suddenly approached him to ask why he was there as well. He lied anew by telling him that he was there to personally convey his condolences to Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas) and his family since he’s a client of theirs. To veer his father’s attention away from him, David told Rigor about his encounter with Tanggol, which prompted the latter to call for reinforcement from their colleagues.

He then told Ramon (Christopher de Leon) and Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) regarding the arrival of the police so that they could leave immediately. But he decided not to come with them in order to talk to Bettina (Tessie Tomas) and further gain her trust by vowing to help their family find the culprit behind the death of her grandson Pablo (Elijah Canlas). However, instead of going after the suspect, Bettina wanted him to look for the possible mastermind, whom she presumed was Samantha.

A nail-biting shootout then ensued between the group of Tanggol and the police force, who responded to the call of Rigor that there was a troop of unidentified men brandishing firearms within the premises of the mansion. Fortunately, Marcelo and his minions came right intime to rescue Tanggol and his comrades and took them away fromt there.

The encounter resulted in a heated altercation among them as they brought them to another hideout, with Marcelo belittling Tanggol’s group. That prompted Primo to show off his fighting skills to prove him wrong, which astounded Marcelo and his henchmen. Marcelo was finally convinced that they’re not good for nothing and ordered Madonna (Kim Domingo) to take them to the arsenal and let them choose the firearms that they would need in fulfilling their mission to help his friends escape.

Tanggol’s friends and some of their fellow inmates initiated a riot inside the prison, which sent them to the isolation cell. Enteng (Jojit Lorenzo) figured out the secret passageway prepared by Macasantos (Lao Rodriguez) for them, and led the jailbreak. Some of them were fatally shot during the clash between the prison officers and Tanggol and Marcelo’s group, while others were successfully saved, including the friends of Tanggol and Bubbles’ grandfather, Celso (Soliman Cruz).

Meanwhile, Olga (a.k.a. Beng) finally found the right timing and opportunity to confess to Bubbles the whole truth regarding their real connection. It was after she was trying to persuade her to come with her upon finding out that another group of unknown men, which was actually David and his henchmen, arrived at Sitio Sandingan to search for her. They were able to follow Bubbles’ friend, Jelly (Kim Rodriguez), as she quickly ran away to go home and inform Bubbles that they were looking for her and Tanggol.

Olga might have been able to convince Bubbles at first to consider her as her own mother during their heartwarming conversation earlier that day, but she failed to convince Bubbles that she didn’t abandon her. She only entrusted her to Celso to take good care of her, but Bubbles was too hurt to accept the truth.

As their convoy was escaping, the responding policemen attempted to obstruct them, which led to an intense and explosive shootout between the two parties. Tanggol’s group made sure that none of the police officers would be alive so that they were able to safely get away by indiscriminately firing at them.

Tanggol accidentally shot Rigor and was apparently mulling over shooting him or not, as he was reminded by all his atrocities against him ever since he was still a kid.

However, he was caught by his godfather, Mando (Allan Paule), who stopped him from killing Rigor and asked him to immediately get away before their other colleagues couls capture him. Tanggol heeded his command and swiftly ran away from the scene.

Viewers were certainly thrilled to see the action-packed and heated confrontation scenes in last week’s episode of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, which were evident in the rave messages posted by netizens on X. And we collated some of those below:
