It was indeed another tumultuous week for FPJ’s Batang Quiapo as we witnessed left-and-right confrontation scenes among its sets of characters. But in the previous week (September 9 to September 13), it’s apparently Rigor (John Estrada) who claimed the top spot in the list of the most nakakagigil characters because of how he treated his family and how he reacted to everything that happened to them.

He got off to a bad start in the past week’s episode as PLTCol Manuel Suarez (King Gutierrez) allowed drug pushers and Red Phoenix members Kidlat (Smugglaz) and Teban (Bassilyo) to be transferred to the correctional facility even though they were not done yet with the process they had to undergo at their station. Rigor tried to question Col. Suarez about it, only to be reminded by the latter that he still has a pending administrative case, which was filed by his mother-in-law Tindeng (Charo Santos).

Since PMGen Augustus V. Pacheco (Julio Diaz) and Col. Suarez forged allegiance with the Red Phoenix, Kidlat and Teban were actually freed and allowed to go back to their headquarters.

While Rigor wasn’t aware yet about what happened to Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), their son, Santino (Ronwaldo Martin), took it upon himself to find ways on how to pay for her hospital bills. He initially thought of asking Coach Gary (Levi Ignacio) for help, which resulted in a heated argument between them after the latter declined since he didn’t have money and he couldn't lend him a portion of the gym’s funds.

Their dispute, which was witnessed by everyone in the gym at the time, escalated quickly when Santino brought up the cash prizes he got from his previous tournaments, which incensed Coach Gary and called him “walang utang na loob.”

Santino had no choice but to leave crestfallen. Fortunately, Annika (Dexie Diaz) was there to the rescue, and she willingly gave him more than the amount he asked for. Unbeknownst to him, someone already resolved their problem, and it was none other than Ramon (Christopher de Leon), who fully paid Marites’ hospital bills and her other needs while she was recuperating.

As soon as he learned about what happened to Marites, Rigor immediately went to the hospital to check on her. Although he was calm at first, his temper suddenly flared up as he confronted her about her being visibly anxious over the past few days, which prompted her to finally narrate her kidnapping.

Her confession further intensified his anger, especially when she said that Tanggol’s enemies were probably the ones behind it and the other unfortunate events in their family. Thus, he once again blamed her for being a failure of a mother and for keeping on siding with her problematic son despite all the troubles that he got their family into.

From simply taking a peek at her hospital room, Ramon finally mustered the courage to show himself to her and admit that it was him who actually paid for her bills as his way of making up for what he did to her many years ago. On his way out, he didn’t expect to be caught by Rigor, and a nerve-racking chase between them ensued, but Rigor failed to catch him.

Rigor once again got enraged as they arrived home with boxes of food and a fruit basket waiting for them. Thus, he vehemently asked her where she thought those came from, of which Marites had no idea as well and simply assumed that they also came from the employer of Tindeng, just like the payment for her hospital bills.

After Santino left, Coach Gary was spotted by Lawrence (Paolo Gumabao) counting the gym fund at his office, which resulted in their intense altercation as he also declined to lend him P150,000 despite being the child of the owner. Thus, Lawrence resorted to stealing the money later that night and was caught by Coach Gary. The old man attempted to stop and fight him but to no avail as Lawrence stabbed him on the abdomen and ran away.

Tanggol and his friends went back to the Caballero Mansion to meet with Don Facundo and his right-hand Marcelo (Nonie Buencamino). He told them that they would no longer join in their upcoming missions after they were measly paid for their previous service. Don Facundo didn’t know about it, so Marcelo argued that it was because they failed to retrieve the “Star of Venus.”

Since he already invested a lot of money in them, Don Facundo didn’t let them leave the group and told Marcelo to give them the rest of the payments that were duly theirs. As Don Facundo laid out to them his plan of putting up their own illegal drug manufacturing business, Tanggol and friends implied that they would continue working with them if they agreed to give them a cut from every transaction that they would make.

As they didn’t want to simply be their minions anymore, Tanggol initially wanted them to have 20% of the profit, but Don Facundo haggled, and they agreed to 10%. However, there’s a catch, as the old man threatened that their lives will be at stake once they fail. Thus, Tanggol reassured her that every penny Don Facundo will spend on them is going to be worth it, and the latter brought them to their drug laboratory that is located in a remote area.

Ramon already had a hunch that Don Facundo may be the one behind the sudden decrease in their clients. David promised to help them find out what the Caballero patriarch is up to, especially now that he’s married to his granddaughter Katherine (Ara Davao).

The following day, Coach Gary’s lifeless, bloodied body was found by the gym staff at his office. Rigor and Mando (Allan Paule) were the ones assigned to investigate it. During their interrogation with the witnesses, Lawrence mentioned the name of Santino being one of their boxers there and the altercation that happened between him and Coach Gary the day before.

That definitely embarrassed and enraged Rigor, so he quickly went home and castigated Santino not only for his alleged involvement in the crime but for still pursuing boxing even though he didn’t allow him. Marites tried to pacify her husband and defend Santino, only to be gaslighted by him again for being an inefficient mother. Despite their appeals, Rigor still got Santino arrested by Mando and warned Marites about meddling with their son’s case.

Was Rigor able to stir your gigil anew in the previous week, Kapamilya? Well, you’re definitely not alone, as other viewers were exasperated at him as well for being such a gaslighter, especially towards his dutiful wife, Marites, as if he didn’t do her any wrong.

In addition, many also were vexed that Rigor, a policeman and a father, chose to easily believe other people’s statements rather than listening to the side of Santino first with regard to his alleged involvement in Coach Gary’s murder.

Here are some rave reactions posted on X (formerly Twitter) by netizens who got to catch last week’s episodes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo”:

Will Santino be able to prove his innocence, or will Rigor let himself be blinded by his anger? Will Tanggol and his friends be able to achieve the successful life they’ve been dreaming of, or will it be halted again?

Well, let's find the answers to these questions by watching the next episodes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” weeknights at 8 p.m., on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5 and A2Z.
