It was indeed another wild week (May 20 to May 24) for the avid viewers of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo as we’d seen another slew of intense scenes that brought us a variety of emotions, but mostly annoyance especially towards Lena, Rigor, and Marites.

Following the successful incursion of the Red Phoenix group at one of the drug warehouses of the Montenegros, Ramon (Christopher de Leon) and Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) found themselves in huge trouble as their business operation had to face delays.

In his attempt to help solve their problem, as well as to ease up the disappointment of Ramon towards him for being missing an action while all of those were happening, David, a.k.a. fake Jesus/Tanggol (McCoy de Leon) agreed to be the one to personally deliver the drugs purchased by Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas) as suggested by Don Julio. Despite being warned by Ramon about getting distracted by his romantic feelings towards Catherine (Ara Davao), David was still persistent to win her heart.

However, she’s obviously not into him as seen in her body language and she was only heeding the request of her grandma, Señora Bettina (Tessie Tomas), for her to also exert even just a little effort in getting to know her avid suitor better because she really liked her to end up with a handsome and “decent” man like him.

While the viewers were probably anticipating that Tindeng (Charo Santos) and David would see each other at the mansion since she’s working there as a maid, it unfortunately didn’t happen as she and Noy (Lou Veloso) failed to see his face and they were barred by Pacing (Malou Crisologo) from getting seen by their employers’ mysterious guest.

Like Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), viewers were surely touched when Tanggol (Coco Martin) brought her to a fast-food restaurant and treated her with a sumptuous meal, which he did for the first time. She updated him about Santino’s (Ronwaldo Martin) foray in boxing, but almost didn’t speak up on the current situation at their house until Tanggol quizzed her regarding the news of Rigor (John Estrada) cheating on Marites and taking home his mistress. As Tanggol questioned her decision to let his father do whatever he pleased, she told him that he and Santino would never understand her reason for allowing it, which got him mad. She also pleaded him not to pursue his plan of confronting Rigor because she knew that the situation would only get worse, which seemingly succeeded as Tanggol calmed down and just handed her some amount of money that could help her and Santino in their daily expenses.

Just when she thought that Tanggol already left to go back to his friend’s house where he currently stays, little Marites did know that he actually headed to their home in hopes of talking to Rigor. But instead of his father, it was Lena (Mercedes Cabral) whom he got to talk to, which resulted in a scorching squabble between them. This was witnessed and stopped by Santino and Camille (Yukii Takahashi), especially when she slapped him. And to further create conflict in the Dimaguiba household, Lena intentionally let herself fall off the stairs and cried that Tanggol pushed her in his attempt to harm her and the baby inside her womb.

Startled by what happened, Tanggol, Santino, and their neighbors quickly rushed Lena to the hospital in which she continued to create drama and insist her exasperating made-up story. One of their neighbors went to the police station to relay the news to Rigor, who hurriedly left despite being hindered by PLT Mario Samonte (Jorel Ramirez). Samonte reminded Rigor that his attendance is needed in their meeting with the officials from the National Correctional Facility (NCF) regarding the case of Chief Dolores Espinas (Jaclyn Jose). Although he was aware of his friend’s emergency, Mando (Allan Paule) refused to convey it to Samonte and PLT Luis Jacobe (Victor Silayan), who warned that Rigor would possibly face punishment for abandonment of duty and insubordination.

Instead of asking her sons first regarding what happened, Marites immediately lashed out at Tanggol and Santino and forced her firstborn to leave before Rigor could catch him and wreak havoc. Unbeknown to her, it truly broke Tanggol’s heart since she once again didn’t believe him and didn’t stand up for him because of her deplorable fear of Rigor. Besides, she’s no different from the people of Sandimas who perceive him as a good-for-nothing and a consistent troublemaker.

Thankfully, Bubbles was there to console him and reassured him that even though the world would turn its back on him, there’s one person who would continue believing that he’s kind and compassionate – and it’s none other than her.

Meanwhile, Lena certainly got everyone fuming mad at her as she told Rigor nothing but falsehoods. She was able to effortlessly convince him and feeded his wrath on Tanggol using her annoying dramatic flair and paawa effect. Of course, Santino came to his brother’s defense and said that it was actually Lena who instigated their quarrel and hurt him. While this stirred the infuriation of Marites, Rigor rejected that clarification and even warned them to not let Tanggol cross paths with him because he’ll surely kill him even though it is going to cost him his precious job.

As soon as she got back at her stall, Marites was bombarded by questions from her neighbors Roda (Joel Lamangan), Marcing (Pen Medina), and Nita (Susan Africa). Being the taklesa that he is, Roda said that Lena deserved what happened to her and that it could be a good thing for their family. Marcing, on the other hand, told her that if there’s someone who was really at fault in this hullaballoo, it should be Rigor since it all started with his infidelity and crooked mindset. This seemingly made Marites realize that Lena only wanted to tear their family apart, so she’s doing everything to fulfill her goal.

Meanwhile, Santino received a pair of gloves as a gift from Annika (Dexie Diaz), who expressed her continued support on him, especially now that his family are going through a rough patch. Coach Gary (Levi Ignacio) witnessed the gesture and warned him about the possibility of him getting distracted by her in his trainings, but Santino told him that she’s actually one of his inspirations to keep going in this journey.

As they arrived home that evening, Rigor and Lena were approached by their neighbors to ask how she’s doing and say that Tanggol seemingly didn’t harm Lena since it was him who actually initiated to rush her to the hospital. Of course, Lena insisted her made-up story, which prompted Rigor to reprimand them for siding with Tanggol anew.
