ABS-CBN keeps top TV network status in 2018

MANILA- ABS-CBN said Friday it pulled more viewers in 2018 compared to rival GMA Network to cement its status as the country's top television network.

The Lopez-led network averaged a 45 percent audience share last year (excluding Holy Week), higher than GMA's 32 percent, data from Kantar Media showed.

In Metro Manila, ABS-CBN said it had a larger audience share of 42 percent compared to GMA's 26 percent.

The Kapamilya network also led in other areas, recording a 40 percent audience share in Luzon, 53 percent in Visayas, and 52 percent in Mindanao.

Long-running police drama "Ang Probinsyano" remained as the most watched show in 2018 with an average television rating of 41.2 percent, ABS-CBN said.

Other most-watched 2018 Kapamilya shows are "Pilipinas Got Talent” (38.1 percent), “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids” (33.3 percent), “Bagani” (31.8 percent), “La Luna Sangre” (31.4 percent), “TV Patrol” (30.5 percent), “Ngayon at Kailanman” (28.8 percent), “MMK” (27.2 percent), and “The Kids’ Choice” (26.2 percent).

ABS-CBN said it led the primetime block (6 p.m. to 12 m.n.) with a 49-percent audience share, compared to GMA's 32 percent.

The network added that it also led in all other blocks: morning (38 percent), noontime (44 percent) and afternoon (43 percent).

As of October 2018, a total of 6.1 million TVplus digital television boxes were sold by ABS-CBN.

Its new streaming service, iWant, meanwhile has reached more than 1 million mobile app downloads since its launch in November.


NEW DEALS

ABS-CBN also recently inked a deal with Thailand’s JKN Global, which will distribute 7 titles that include fantasy series “La Luna Sangre,” “I’ll Never Say Goodbye,” “The Promise of Forever,” “Till I Met You,” the longest-running primetime series “Brothers” (“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”), and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach's new lifestyle travel show “Pia’s Postcards.”

Media group Viet content meanwhile is bringing the Jericho Rosales-starrer “I’ll Never Say Goodbye" to Vietnamese viewers.

Media company S&E Syndication, on the other hand, signed to continue airing the recently concluded Julia Montes-starrer “Asintado” in Myanmar.

Burmese viewers will also get to watch the family drama-thriller "The Better Half" after ABS-CBN signed a deal with premium cable channel Canal+.
