MANILA - Globe Telecom on Thursday urged subscribers to avail of free LTE SIM cards to replace "old and obsolete" versions for better mobile data service.

Subscribers using non-LTE sim cards who received a text message from Globe can just visit any official store to get a replacement for free, the telecommunications company said in a statement.

To check whether the sim is old, users can send "SIM CHECK" to 8080, Globe said.

"Globe is calling its mobile customers to replace their old and obsolete SIMs to LTE SIM cards to experience better mobile data service," the telco said.

Using LTE SIM cards with 4G capability is 10x faster than using 3G, the telco said.
