MANILA - Construction firm DMCI said the massive fire which damaged a part of the Skyway Stage 3 tollways last week did not originate from its construction yard. San Miguel Corp, whose toll unit is building Skyway, earlier said that the <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/02/01/20/part-of-skyway-stage-3-collapses-amid-fire-in-pandacan-warehouse">blaze</a> likely originated from a DMCI construction yard that spread to its nearby plastics warehouse. But DMCI said this was not the case. &quot;Videos taken by various netizens clearly show that the fire started outside our work area,&quot; the firm said in a statement. DMCI added that according to the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire broke out at around 10:38 a.m. while its construction yard caught fire at around 11:15 a.m. The company said it will cooperate with the investigation into the blaze. San Miguel said the blaze <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/02/03/20/fire-pushes-back-skyway-stage-3-completion-to-july">pushed back</a> the opening of the Skyway by three months, and that it now expects the new tollway to open by July. Skyway Stage 3 will connect the South Luzon Expressway to the North Luzon Expressway and is expected to cut the volume of vehicles on EDSA by up to 50 percent. Once finished, Skyway Stage 3 is expected to cut travel time between NLEX and SLEX to 15 minutes, from the current 2 hours.The new road is a 14.8-kilometer elevated tollway project connecting SLEX Buendia to NLEX Balintawak.
